Less than a year after the stewardess marries the Pan Am captain, he catches her in a compromising encounter and mistakenly assumes the worst. His mistake results in her untimely death and makes him remember the major mistakes he made in his first marriage. He cannot forgive himself and cannot see his future clearly until a stranger who claims to be his daughter and a woman who was deserted by her husband hoist him aloft.
A surprisingly tender story by an author whose non-fiction works I've long recommended. I'm not sure I agree with the listed description but I found this second-chance romance, complex and rewarding. Written from the gentleman's point of view (and I mean that, because this leading man is really a gentleman, complete with refreshing insecurities and a past to overcome) it was a nice twist to the usual fare.
