My First Book of the Solar System introduces children to the topic of space. It is written in clear and easy-to-follow language with colourful illustrations and photographs. It also has supporting facts and quizzes. I loved reading about the world around me as I grew up I got pushed into reading more fiction but non-fiction is awe inspiring and I feel it is a shame that we do not do enough to promote reading factual books. This is a lovely book for KS1 and yes it can be used for scince in other year groups but I think these kinds of books should be available in the classroom to read for pleasure or as a take home book.

Another gem from Collins' My First Book of...series for children. It provides an excellent introduction to the solar system with plenty of illustrations and individual facts for all the planets, moon and sun etc, and also a test at the back.
