This was a slog. Parts of it were interesting – particularly the beginning, where the author talked about demons as a concept and how that concept has integrated into our history and language over time – but so much of this book relies on the reader immediately accepting that demonic possession is not only completely real, but that "many" incidents where the Church wasn't involved (and where no claims of demonic possession were made at the time, by the sufferer or otherwise) were actually just really good examples of demonic possession. If you fail to accept that premise, the rest of the book comes across as unfounded, fearmongering nonsense.
