This is an easy-read, biblically sound introduction to the subject of spiritual warfare (the subtitle is, "Personal Strategies for Spiritual Warfare). Foreward is by Dr. C. Peter Wagner, Fuller Theological Seminary, Pasadena. (I have had occasion to deal with demonic spirits, and they are quite real, intent on wreaking havoc in human lives. But greater is He who is in us....).

EXCELLENT BOOK! I do not know where or from whom I received this book, but now I know God appointed it to me at a specific and much-needed time. I was going through boxes of books in my workshop, actually looking for a different book, and the "PERSONAL STRATEGIES FOR SPIRITUAL WARFARE" subtitle captured my attention. At first, I was hesitant because I was not familiar with the author's name and also the main title "Overcoming the Dominion of Darkness" seemed beyond my desire to want to read about, but then I read in the first paragraph, "The American Church is willing to accept demonization on the mission field, but here at home our belief in the power of darkness is academic." This is very true! I don't even like to read the word "demon" or "demonization", but as I found out this author laid out a very practical study on the subject of spiritual warfare.

Hovering over the box I found it in, I then started thumbing through Part II: The Armor of God in the book and at glance everything that I skimmed over seemed very balanced. It wasn't churchy or over-the-top or wild and crazy. It was simply "clear-headed" as said on the back cover by John Dawson. REFRESHING.

What I felt hesitant about before with this book, I am even more excited about now and have purchased other copies as gifts for others! This really IS a PRACTICAL GUIDE on the topic of understanding spiritual warfare as believers in Christ. Yes, the book was written in 1990 but that does NOT take away from its well written content and the importance for every believer in seeking to understand the fundamentals of the spiritual aspects of our spiritual walk with Christ!

I encourage anyone stumbling across this out-of-print book or this understated review to take notice and consider getting their hands on this book. For small groups, this is an excellent resource. You will be hard-pressed to find better, well-balanced theologically, and biblically sound material. Pastors and leaders, get this resource! You will not regret it.

Personally, this is the type of book that earns a place on my bookshelf to remind me of what I have read and learned when I see the cover next to other valuable resources, and to use to refresh my understanding of spiritual preparation in the days to come.
