Completely enters the child's world and sees things through his eyes. Heartbreaking. It reminds me powerfully of what it's like being small, but thankfully my childhood was relatively happy, unlike poor Louis's.

I enjoyed this book, a lot of the reason I suspect is that is it set in the town of my birth.
