Cain and Deke form a 50/50 partnership on their bounty hunting. During a shootout with some outlaws Deke gets a compound fracture to the leg. Its either save Deke's leg and possibly his life or take the outlaws in for the reward. Cain takes Deke to the doc and finds out Deke will keep the leg but will be off his feet for some time. Cain takes out on his own again looking for bounties. Eventually Deke is back on the trail but does not want to be a bounty hunter again. The title doesn't lie. It is a classic western adventure. Including an old saloon ho married to an English lord. As if. But what do I know. Maybe it happened all the time. In another spin on fiction is stranger then truth the lady in question gets pregnant and knows the father of the baby is a man who raped her. The rapist doesn't question it either. Huh? How did they know this? Wasn't she a pro. She worked her trade in a saloon. Though she was very selective about who she slept with. Seriously? I would have loved to know what her criteria was. Of course she could have taken the month off or gave it up for lent. Anyway that bit of nonsense brought from 5 to 4 stars. Still a good read and I would recommend it.

Entertaining series about an iconic protagonist seeking frontier justice for assorted bad guys as a combination US Marshal and Bounty Hunter in the post Civil War 1870's. All four books are exceptionally well written stories about our Judeo/Christian values from another time and place. I sincerely hope the author continues the rambling of Lucas Cain!
This book did not follow my pre conceived notions. It does not have a happy ending, nor am I sure there is even at good guy present. Each reader will have the opportunity to form his/her opinion. Happy reading.
