Street level view of the 1979 Mod 'renewal' as it happened. Packed with vintage features for the legendary newspaper 'Sounds' and more. Great read and so much seems to have been packed into a short period of musical history. One for the Glory boys & girls indeed!

A deceptively slim tome that took quite a while to read. The majority seems to be a collection of reviews from the time although nicely edited to provide an overview of how quickly the scene emerged, developed and prematurely dwindling tho with still smouldering ashes that won't go out.
I knew next to nothing of this scene. I was given the book not long after it came out by a dear friend who saw some parallels with the garage rock revivalist band we had set up at the time.
I was going to give it 3 stars but I've upped it to a 4. It's been put together with real affection. Certainly The Chords, I will check out further before long. All the photos of the scene towards the rear of the book are very evocative and quite poignant in 2020 with the UK live music scene utterly devastated, barren and scorched to see how brightly burn youthful musical dreams and how often overlooked they are despite their glory.
