Nothing can stop me from claiming my vengeance. Not even the daughter of the man I intend to destroy.

Giada
My existence means nothing more to my heartless father than what my marriage can do to strengthen the empire he’s built on blood and pain.

There’s no hope for me to have a life of my own, until my father’s fortune takes a turn for the worse.

But my brother thinks he can use me in his rise to power, and I have no choice but to obey.

Or so I thought.

When the man tasked to protect me from our enemies throws me the lifeline I’ve been desperate for since I was a young girl, I grip it tightly with both hands.

But the man whose blue eyes captivated me from the moment I met him has secrets that could destroy us all.

When I discover who Luca truly is, I have to decide if my white knight is the savior I always envisioned or the villain in this twisted tale.

Luca
I came to Boston for revenge and placed myself next to the man responsible for the murder of my parents.

Everything was going according to plan, until one night shook the foundation of the family I was set to ruin.

Now her brother has his own plans for the little Mafia princess I’ve been ordered to protect from their family’s enemies.

Little does anyone know, the real enemy has been sleeping under their roof this entire time.

Giada’s brother has signed a marriage contract that will no doubt extinguish the fire I’ve come to crave in her amber eyes.

When she runs to me desperate for an escape, I can’t find it in my blackened heart to turn her away.

But first she’ll have to accept who I am, and who my family really is.

Luca has had a loving father who had provided him with everything a kid needs.. and until he was 18 that was his belief until his father tells him a story that completely upends his life and changes where luca thought his future was heading.

Giada is a love starved mafia princess who has never felt important or mattered other than how dad can use her for his gain. Giada meets Luca when she was 16 and had puppy love.. until her brother crushed her spirit.

Out for revenge Luca must stick to the character he's been playing for years until there's no other option but to tell Giada who he is and why he's there. Can Giada forgive him for the lies and deceit or will she leave and never turn back?

This is book 2 in this series and it is a standalone but I do suggest reading Finns book prior to this as the overall plot does continue into this book as well as you get to meet Luca in it as well.

This was a great second book and I loved learning where he came from and how he found himself I'm enemy territory. This book starts at 10 years prior and works it's way to present day(the end of book 1) and goes from there. It is a slower burn and slower plot buildup as it has a lot of ground to cover prior, so expect to wait patiently for the good stuff 😏. I felt for Giada not one person had her back until Luca although she never realized it at the moment but did in the future.

This is the second book from the Boston Syndicate Series, it’s an interconnected standalone as the first book and this book are about different couples & plot scenery. I think you’ll be fine if you haven’t read the first book before starting this second one, but for me it’s better that you read the first one so that you can understand better of everyone mentioned and everything, since there are characters from the first book being featured in this second book as well.

This book gave different plot pov from the first, and it’s parallel with each other hence I didn’t feel repetitive or confuse or whatnot. I do enjoyed the plot growth, as it does glued me to read to know what’s next, since in this book it’s more about our mmc Luca, his past and present life, Giada (his love interest / fmc) as well as the enemy’s family etc. I’ve been wondering about Luca & Giada from the first book, and this book manages to give me the answers and more. Yet as for their love interest, it’s truly slow burn, more like it’s the second matter in this book’s storyline. Everything is relevant to the plot indeed, but for me I think it’ll be much better if their love interest blossoms / included more in the earlier chapters as well, but still fine this way though. It’s truly different from Finn & Alessia’s love story, and the impact of their (Luca & Giada) love story kinda different for me as well. Feels like I’m just about to warm up to them, as well as glad with how everything goes, then it’s the end. Not really a problem, still for me everything totally relevant to the plot & the plot growth, just maybe I expect more in regards to their love story, perhaps I shouldn’t compared to Finn & Alessia’s story though, since for those, they managed to gave me more impact in their plot.

Overall, I did enjoyed this book as well, happy with the ending and everything. Luca & Giada are such great characters as well. Thank you for the ARC! ❤️

This is the 2nd book in The Boston Syndicate Series. It is an interconnected standalone, so you do not have to have read the first book to read this, however, you get an overall idea of some background and characters if you have.

We follow our MMC Luca who’s life is blown up with family secrets and he dedicates his life to taking down the people who hurt his family. Even though no one can know of his existence.

The FMC Giada is a mafia princess in a family where she is nothing more than a possession to be sold when it suits her father’s gains. Luca is her bodyguard, as much as it annoys her, especially since she has had a crush on him since he arrived to work for her family, shame he’s as obnoxious as all the other men who work for her father, or so he makes her believe.

This is the 5th book I have read of Kate Randall and I have loved them all. I loved the first book in this series Finn and the ending of that lead into the plot of this book. I did not enjoy this book as much as the others.

I think if you read this book as a stand-alone then it’s great, however having read the previous book, a lot of the plot is parallel to the story, in the story of ‘the enemy’ so although it isn’t quite repeated, it did feel very familiar. I felt like I kept waiting for the plot to begin with something I wasn’t already vaguely familiar with or for something to happen. I feel like I got to almost 70% of the book before it started to pick up and then it felt a little sudden. I feel like if there had been more hint to Luca’s conflict of feelings here and there it wouldn’t have felt so 180 and sudden.

This wasn’t a bad book or story I just felt compared to all the others I have read it wasn’t my favourite.

3⭐️2🌶️

I was lucky enough to be given the Arc of this book for a honest review thanks to next steps PR

I thoroughly enjoyed book one, Finn, and this second book in the Boston Syndicate series is every bit as good. The start was a tad slow, but believe me, there is a reason, and it’s necessary. Then, things picked up so much that it was extremely fast-paced, and I had trouble putting it down.

Luca is one gorgeous guy. He receives a heck of a shock, but I don’t think I would have handled it as well at such a young age. Having the childhood he had went a long way in giving him a clear understanding of how people should treat each other.

Enter Giada—the mafia princess of the Cataldi Family. (Well, princess is a loose term as she is definitely not pampered or even remotely treated like a treasured family member.) Her life seems uncomplicated, but is it really? I enjoyed how this is woven into the story.

The so-called baddies in the story—Giada’s father and brother—are disgustingly evil. The way the author has written these characters cleverly incites readers (well, this reader) to want them to be no more!

There are lots of twists and turns in the story, and this happens all of the way through the book. You never know what is going to happen next. I look forward to reading Eoghan’s story next.

Book two in the Boston Syndicate series, “Luca,” captivated me just as much as the first installment, “Finn.” Though the story begins at a slower pace, it’s essential to stick with it because the buildup is necessary and rewarding.

The story follows Luca, who, after receiving devastating news, sets out on a path of revenge. He infiltrates the family business of his target, dedicating years to executing his meticulously crafted plan.

Giada, the mafia princess of the Cataldi family, has known Luca since childhood and once harbored a crush on him. Her seemingly perfect life unravels when she’s promised to the leader of the Russian mafia, triggering a cascade of secrets and lies that have been kept from her.

I thoroughly enjoyed delving into the characters’ backgrounds and appreciated the crossover elements from the first book. This story is brimming with twists and turns, keeping you guessing at every turn. The happy ending was particularly satisfying.

Once again, Kate Randall’s writing has blown me away. I can’t wait for the release of book three.

So we get to learn about Luca in the first book Finn. I honestly love the background from Luca. You got to know more about him and then you got to know more about the other side of the mafia family that he hates.

When I first heard that we were going to get Luca after reading Finn, I could not have waited for it. I wanted it and now I had it! Loved the book so much!

Luca is the second book in The Boston Syndicate series. It centers around Luca and Giada. They both through out the book find out things are not always what they seem. The emotions this book brought on hit constantly in the best way possible. It is so good for a book to invoke emotion instead of it just being words on a page.
This book definitely answers a lot of questions I have had during this series and even The Black Roses MC series about who the character of Luca was and where did he really fit in with the whole story line that was going on.
It is on the slow burn side which in honest I usually don't like but since there was so much setting up of the story line I was still able to kept engaged and not get bored. However, when the burn hit, it definitely hit.
Overall, I absolutely loved the book and it is a great fit in the series. I can't wait for the next book...I just really hope it is who I think it is.

I enjoyed Luca & Giada's story. Lots of tension, intensity, drama and twists fuel this engaging read. I really liked the main characters. Their chemistry was powerful, and I found myself rooting for them very quickly. All and all a very good read that left me excited to continue this series.

Luca by Kate Randall is the story of Luca and Giada. He has one purpose and one purpose only. Giada is the unexpected twist in his plans.

I LOVED Luca! He is single-minded, intense, intelligent, and fiercely protective. Giada is a bit sheltered, spoiled, and surprisingly resilient. Together, they’re a force to deal with!!! This story was full of suspense, thrills, shocks, and plenty of romance!!

Wow!

Luca and Giada both have so many past secrets and hurts to overcome. They are perfect for each other and helping to heal and grow. I love watching everything come together in the end. I also can’t wait to read the MC series after meeting everyone here.

I voluntarily read an advanced copy.

Luca
Luca is the second book in The Boston Syndicate Series and was the first book that I have read of Kate Randall’s. This book is a standalone but is connected to the first book in the, Finn, and has characters from The Black Roses MC Series. Like Luca, I started this book knowing nothing about the Irish and Italian Mafia and was thrown into this world right along with him.
At 18 years old, Luca’s whole world becomes a dumpster fire, everything he thought to be true was all a lie. Luca reaches out to his to newly discovered family in Boston and works out a plan with his cousin Finn to seek revenge on the Italian Mafia.
Luca spends 7 long years undercover working as a bodyguard for the Italian Mafia and becomes the personal bodyguard of the mafia princess Giada Cataldi. I like the fact that there wasn’t instant chemistry and attraction between Luca and Giada, Giada did have a crush on Luca when she was in high school, their attraction developed because of forced proximity and a need to survive.
Giada is not a spoiled mafia princess and is aware of what type of business her father and brother are involved in. The only thing Giada truly wants is her freedom, she does not want to be married off, and she wants to be as far away from her family as possible. In the beginning, Giada is a bit naive and trusting of those around her. She can’t help but try to see the good in everyone.
I enjoyed watching the attraction between Luca and Giada ignite and eventually become an inferno. There is plenty of spice between the two of them, that kept turning the page way past my bedtime.
There are a lot of parallels between Luca and Giada life with some surprising connections that are revealed along the way. Both learn what a real family is through the Monaghan clan, welcoming them into their family without any hesitation.
If you are looking for a page turning mafia spicy romance, then this book is a must read.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
🌶️🌶️ (A little bit of spice, but a whole lot of passion)

Because I got an ARC for Egohan I read this series out of order. And after reading Finn and Eoghan, I was eager to start Luca. He was such an interesting person, with an intriguing backstory.

I was drawn into this book from the very beginning. I can easily see this one being my favorite in the series. Luca and Giada banter was perfect, forbiddeness of their relationship was chef's kiss.

All my favorite tropes were wrapped into a nice little bow with this story. And it was such a good page turner, that I didn't want to put it down. Definitely the type of book that made you question "who needs sleep?".

This book answered so many questions I had about storylines and characters from other books. And I loved how we got so much background information about Luca and Giada. If a book is going to be a slow burn, I prefer it to be filled with character and world building.

Luca made Giada feel heard for once in her life, and that made me tear up a bit. Especially when she meets his family, realizing what a cold childhood and upbringing she had. And despite Luca not having his bio parents around, he still grew up loved with his extended family loving him from afar. While at the same time these two found family within each other.

Be prepared for a SLOW burn, but the story and tension kept the story interesting. Nothing spicy happening until roughly the 70% mark. But boy when the spice did happen, it was definitely worth the wait.

The plot twist at the end was unexpected, and made a lot of stuff makes sense. Genius writing on Kate Randall's part.

Overall this book was a fun read. So many twists and turns. Plus I went through so many emotions. I thoroughly enjoyed this series. And I look forward to all the rereads I will be doing.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review for Stephanie's Book Reports.

This is the story of Luca and Glada. While this book says that it is a standalone, I feel like you need to read the first book. The story line carries from that book to this one.
Luca had the perfect life as a child growing up. He never wanted for anything, ever. However, when he turned eighteen his entire life turn upside down. Nothing was the same for him again. Even the future he thought he had is now gone. He gets really good a playing the game. Telling the lies he needs to, being who people expect him to be. The man is out for revenge and will have not stop until he gets it.
Glada is a mafia princess. I really felt sorry for her because she has never felt like she mattered to anyone. Her dad has always thought of her as a piece on his chest board to use as he feels fit. When she meets Luca at the age of sixteen. He has come to work for her family and while she has the crush on him, she is really annoyed that he watches her every move. But more so that he is like all the other men in her family, Alpha and obnoxious as all get out. But he is also betraying the girl he is charged with guarding. Will she ever be able to forgive him?
This book like I said has a story that the plot runs with the first book. If you had question from that book, you will probably get the answers. I liked these characters in this book but I really loved the first one better than this one. Not that this one isn't good. It's just not as all consuming as the other one.

🖤🔫ARC REVIEW🔫🖤

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫/5

Luca is the second book in the Boston Syndicate series. This book starts at a slower pace than the first book and we get some background information and it starts when Luca is 18 and jumps to present day. The story follows Luca who received news at 18 and changes his life which makes him set out on a path of revenge. He infiltrates the Cataldi family and has dedicated years of training to execute his meticulously crafted plan. It also follows Giada who is the mafia princess of the Cataldi family and actually knew Luca since childhood and harbored a crush on him. Throughout the story we see Giada’s seemingly perfect life unravel when she is promised to the leader of the Russian mafia and secrets and lies that have been kept from her come exposed. I loved the getting to know the characters background and the crossovers from the first book. This story has lost of twist and turns that make you not be able to put the book down. Kate Randall has done it again and I can’t wait to see whose book is next in this world.

I’ve been such a fan of all of Kate Randall’s books. I love all of the men she writes and she also writes amazing FMCs. They’re always amazing.

I really enjoyed this book. The first 50% was absolutely amazing. I wish the last 50% had more emotional development between the characters, but I still loved their story. This book has many time jumps and that’s one of my favorite things in books. I love seeing the way characters grow and change over time. It was also a slow burn which is also nice watching and feeling the tension grow throughout the book is another of my favorite tropes.

Luca’s story broke my heart for him. But watching him grow and heal and redeem his family was amazing. The way he saved Giada and also wanted to protect her even when she didn’t think he was.

I loved the found family aspect of this book. Two people who were totally lonely for completely different reasons finding the family they needed was my favorite part of this story.

While this book does have romance, I’m not 100% sure I would classify romance as the main plot line. Which is fine, I still really enjoyed this book, but it definitely felt like the B plot in here. With all of the other plots going on, I totally understood why and all of the plot lines started in this book were wrapped up and didn’t feel underdeveloped.

I’m so excited to read the next book in the series.

Spanning a period of several years, Luca follows the story of Luca Bennetti, a carefree teenager whose world was rocked when his dying father told him the truth about his true parentage. Thirsting for revenge, he contacted the cousin he never knew he had and began a dangerous quest to destroy a Mafia family from within. But he didn’t reckon on Mafia princess Giada who he’s been tasked with guarding.

While this book could be read as a standalone, the overlapping storyline began in Finn, the first book in the Boston Syndicate series so I would advise reading the books in order of release. The romance element was very much a slow burner and to be honest I didn’t sense any chemistry between Luca and Giada, in fact for most of the book Luca didn’t appear to like her while she thought he was just another of her father’s thugs. What I loved most about this book were the appearances from Finn and Alessia, their fire and passion was full on technicolour and in comparison, just made Luca and Giada’s relationship look like it was in monochrome. I still enjoyed this book, it’s just not one of my favourites but as for the next book, I can’t wait to find out what Gemma’s been getting up to in New York that’s caught the attention of the Bratva!

Was this my first Kate Randall book? Yes.
Have I now finished her entire backlog just because of this story? Also yes.
I am a complete sucker for world building and the world Kate Randall created is fantastic.
Luca finds out he's actually related to both the Irish and the Italian mafia and the man he knew as his dad actually killed both of his parents on orders from the head of the Italian mafia. After his fake dad dies then he sets out on this revenge scheme which brings him into the home of the man who ordered the hit on his family... and that man's only daughter.
The first half of the book is setting up the backstory which informs the romance and it's set over 7 years then we get the meat of the romance.
This book is spicy, has great twists, and the characters act pretty reasonably - considering the backgrounds they come from.
I would definitely recommend picking this beauty up.

Luca is the book two of the Boston Syndicate, a dark mafia romance series. His book tells the story of Luca, the long lost cousin of Finn Monaghan head of the Irish mafia of Boston and Giada Castaldi, the daughter of Francesco Cataldi head of an Italian mafia family. Luca’s life is blown up when everything he thought he knew about his parents turns out to be a lie and he finds out the man who raised him was actually the one who killed his parents. Turns out Giada’s dad was the one responsible for that and he is seeking revenge. He connects with his Irish family and infiltrates the Castaldi family in order to take them down. What Luca didn’t expect was to fall for an Italian mafia princess along the way. This book is filled with twists and turns, suspense and non stop action. You get mafia mixed with motorcycle club and it makes an amazing book. I’ve had the pleasure of reading Finn’s and Luca’s books cannot wait to read Eoghan’s book.

This is the 2nd story in The Boston Syndicate Series where we get Luca’s background and decisions he makes once secrets are revealed. This dark mafia romance has Luca invading the Italian Mafia of Boston with the help of family from the Irish Mafia, Finn his cousin. Luca grew up never knowing what his life should have been until the man raising him gives details of who he is and those who are his family so his way of coming to terms is to get revenge and with the help from Finn he’ll plan and take action over several years to bring down those responsible. When he’s tasked with guarding Giada the princess’s daughter not once but twice he sees a girl/woman in a horrible place in life and does what he can to keep her safe and show compassion when he can. When his duty becomes more with Gilda things get complicated with twist and turns never expected. Luca becomes a man worth standing next to and Gilda is happy to find how a real family loves.

I liked Finn’s book better. I wouldn’t exactly call giada a spoiled mafia princess but she was just kind of there. Nothing really to her. And I didn’t really believe her relationship with Luca. I know she had a crush on him when she was younger and thankfully because she was just a teen and he’s 6 years older he didn’t have any feelings for her either. However, for 4 years they didn’t see or speak to each other and it never really showed from his pov that he had feelings for her. Sure, he cared about what happened to her but because he was a decent human being and didn’t want to see an innocent girl hurt. He felt bad for her that her brother and father were douchebags. It was def a slooooow burn. They didn’t get together until like 70% of the way through.

I also really hate long chapters. Like why are chapters over 10 min long.

Surprisingly, Luca and Giada didn't have as much angst as I thought they would. Which is good because Giada didn't stay pining away over Luca for years, but also not so good because I missed that emotional connection that's usually in these tropes. That being said, I loved Luca in protector mode for her. I loved Luca bonding with his family and seeing how lovingly they all welcomed him into their fold. The moment with Luca and his aunt was so bittersweet. The spice was good when we finally get to it. The whole Carlo fiasco wrapped up quicker than I expected. I thought he might escape and then that arch would flow into the next book but I guess not.

Luca is the second book in The Boston Syndicate series. We had a glimpse of Luca in book 1. In his own book his entire backstory is revealed, how he was separated form the family, learned who he really is, and his return. I really enjoyed Luca and Giada's story. It was completely unique from the first book, while still letting the reader see their former favorite characters. There was a lot of spice and a HEA for the two of them, while a set up for book 3. The Boston Syndicate is a fun, easy to read mafia romance series, and it's 5 stars!

Luca is the second book in the Boston Syndicate series but a total standalone in my opinion. Finn from book one does come into play though which I liked. This book is more of a slow burn but given the story line, it made total sense. You find lots of heartbreak and two strong characters. Giada is sassy and sure has some comebacks. Some of the remarks that Giada made to Luca had me laughing. Especially the comment she made when he was 'promoted'. I don't want to give anything away, but I can say that it was a great read if you enjoy mafa type romances.

It's not just because I'm from New England that I love "The Boston Syndicate" series! Ms. Randall has penned an awesome mafia romance series, at least the first two!

Unbelievable who the villains are!

A revenge plot!

Can Giada survive or will Luca be ruthless and not protect her?

The world and character building continues which keeps you engaged.

I definitely want to continue this series!

Highly emotional read for me! I so wanted both of the mains to come out ahead of the nasty villains, Together!

Luca is the 2nd book in the Boston Syndicate series. Even though it is a stand-alone I highly recommend you read Finn first because the plots do overlap and run concurrently, so, it adds dimension to the overall narrative.

I liked Luca and Giada's story. Both have significant baggage from their youth, Luca finding out something that turned his world upside down and Giada growing up under the thumb of her father and brother being used as a pawn. This was a bit of a slow burn but when the fire started it was hot.

Giada the Italian bosses daughter is about to be married off to benefit the family when Luca offers to marry her to save her from her family...

Absolutely love the characters and the writing draws you in and makes you want to stay! I do recommend reading Kate's other books before this one but only Finn is really required for the story.
