Clint has watched his kinky friends find their matches for years, but as the local king of kink, Clint has forgotten how to play. The fire that left him with scars and took away the love of his life also turned one of his former pleasures into a nightmare that haunts him nearly every night.
But Scotland has been trying to get Clint's attention for months, longing for a man who couldn't be more emotionally unavailable. When one of Clint's closest friends, Maddy, sets up a wax-play scene, Clint snaps at the sight of candles in his home and workplace.
Clint is given two choices— take an extended vacation to finally give himself time to grieve, or risk losing Unkinked and his friends.
The vacation is the easy choice, until Clint finds himself stuck at a cabin owned by the very man he's been avoiding for months.
M.C. Roth lives in Canada and loves every season, even the dreaded Canadian winter. She graduated with honours from the Associate Diploma Program in Veterinary Technology at the University of Guelph before choosing a different career path.
Between caring for her young son, spending time with her husband, and feeding treats to her menagerie of animals, she still spends every spare second devoted to her passion for writing.
She loves growing peppers that are hot enough to make grown men cry, but she doesn’t like spicy food herself. Her favourite thing, other than writing of course, is to find a quiet place in the wilderness and listen to the birds while dreaming about the gorgeous men in her head.
I've been waiting forever for Clints story and it did not disappoint at all. This book is worth the price for sure. It contains 2 switches, a couple of stupid cute donkeys, and tattooing with mix of fire kink. Clint may have thought he only needed his club to live, but Scotland thought otherwise. There's many different characters that pop up in this book from other books of this series, so its best to read them in order to get everyone's background. But Clint has been one of my favorites since the first book came out. I can't wait to see if this author has more books in this series to come.
4.25 stars. Clint’s head is full of Ross, his late partner, by day and by nightmares. He lost him in a traumatic way. Clint owns the kink club Unkinked, but will never scene again. He’s the king of the kink but without the throne.
Scotland is a tattoo artist and member of Clint’s club, he’s quite obsessed with Clint and has all the feels for him. Trying to get Clint’s full attention. But Clint is clear, there’s no chance for Scotland, ever.
On a forced time off slash vacation to grieve, heal, and regroup himself, he ends up at a cabin that belongs to Scotland.
What follows over the next weeks are encounters and complicated scenes. Scotland finally understands there will never be a he and Clint, it’s painful but Scotland will be a friend instead, even a broken-hearted one.
I had the feeling I missed something between Clint dismissing Scotland at the club and their next encounter. Also, I missed some smooth transitions between one and another chapter slash scenery change. I’m not sure if I make sense, but that’s how it felt.
For me it was quite complicated, not in a negative way, as a reader it’s easier to know who is who and what to expect. In this story, the dynamic shifted like a leaf in the wind. I had to adjust at moments I didn’t expect. It was challenging and I did love the challenge!
The further the story went the better it got. The scenery and circumstances were diverse, original and interesting. It’s maybe not so much about romance even though there is romance, it is more about the process of healing. There were moments I smiled so hard my face hurt, other times my heart cracked. The scenes were good and quite emotional.
Overall a good story and a wonderful addition to the series.
4.5 stars I have read several books from this series, but enough time had passed that I didn’t remember the backstories on the many supporting characters, but of Maddy and Derrick, especially. That would have helped parts of it make more sense initially, as the side characters add so much.
Clint has so much baggage from his past trauma and loss of his husband, he has been suppressing himself for years. Scotland has had a crush on him since he joined Unkinked, but he never expected anything to come from it since Clint basically ignored him. When Clint is forced to take a vacation from the Club, he ends up at a cabin on Scotland’s property. Here, in close proximity, Scotland tries to care for Clint and his Dom side comes out. He instinctively seems to know what Clint needs. The most interesting part of their dynamic is that they are both switches, sometimes dominant, other times submissive, and this works somehow as the two get closer to realizing what they need.
There is a lot of BDSM action, supportive friends, past couplings, a pair of miniature donkeys, a fear of fire, and a complicated dynamic between Clint and Scotland that exhibits the opposite sides of each at one time or another. Both MC are flawed, but they do each understand on a basic level what the other one needs at a given time, and they come through to bring out the best in each other, making for an interesting journey in the at times complicated world of kink.

I can't believe this is the series finale, but here we go:
Clint is the ringleader of Unkinked, but rarely plays with anyone himself due to losing his husband in a tragic fire years before. Other club members have noticed that Clint seems to be declining and is in desperate need to submit to someone to just "let go" for awhile, so he can finally relax and not constantly lose it on the other members. When he does go off at Maddy during a scene involving fire/wax play, the decision is made that he needs time away to comes to terms with his submission to a Dom. Clint is constantly fighting the battle in his mind that he doesn't need to submit and that he just needs to dominate.
Scotland has been watchin from afar, having worked Clint's nerves too many times, eventually causing himself to be banned from the club. When Clint finds out the cabin he's staying in belongs to Scotland, they collide is a whirlwind of passion, domination and submission that both desperately needed.

One of the things I love about the Unkinked series is that the consenting adults are really adults. If I never hear about another 'coming of age' or 'first love' again, it will be fine with me. I like people who know what they want, even if they are unsure how to ask for it. Clint knows he wants to move on from his dead beloved, but he doesn't know how. Scotland knows he wants Clint but he doesn't know how to woo him without scaring him off. The lengths these two will go to in trying to achieve their goals is really rather sweet. Bringing in other characters from previous books makes us feel at home, but I doubt if reading the other books would be absolutely necessary. Roth always makes it clear what is going on. You might not understand the kinks of the other couple but then, it might not matter to the current story. I've loved Scotland from other books and I have been rooting for him. I was glad to see him get his man. Roth delivers another great one.

Oh my freaking goodness my heart just melts with these two characters like the fire and ice penultimate scene in this story!
Wow just wow is all I can say about this author for leaving the best storyline for last!
Scotland was just what Clint needed to move on with from his guilt and solace and Clint was exactly what Scotland has been craving all his life in the kink community- a switch like no other and who better than the King of Kink!
I applaud Maddy and Derrick for their ultimatum and matchmaking skills to get Clint out of his head and into the wild so to speak with two adorable twin dwarf donkeys to boot!
I loved and admired Scotland’s patience and love that he showed Clint by giving him space at first by becoming friends and then all bets were off!
It was a revelation to get to see the sub side of Clint and then the Dom side so hot!
I loved this series and hope there will be spin offs of the characters in the near future!

Get ready for a wild ride of pleasure, desire, and discovery with "For the Love of Kink"!
Clint is a sad character to read about and this book has a more serious bent than the other books because of Clint loosing his husband and blaming himself. As usual with her books M C Roth does a great job portraying the kink aspects in her latest book but she also does an amazing job with the idea of mourning and guilt. Clint is finally forced to confront what happened to him when the club makes him go off on “holiday” and he ends up in a cabin next to Scotland. No not the country, the other lead’s name is Scotland and while I understand that it’s hard to keep coming up with character names this one kept jarring my mind enough to take me out of the book a few times. But honestly it’s about the only thing I could possibly complain about which is pretty good really. I enjoy M C Roth’s writing and her books just keep getting better and better.

Tragic and empowering. Clint lost the love of his life, Ross in a nightmare tragedy he relives over and over in his nightmares. He owned the kink club Unkinked and was totally dependent on his emotionally arrested friends, his found family. Clint is a flammable hot mess. Scotland is an artist specializing in tatoo art. He built a good business by work of mouth referrals. He has been crushing on Clint. Clint is convinced to take a vacation and ends up at a place Scotland owns. The forced proximity gives them a chance to learn a bit about each other. This story is about two men spending time and learning things they thought they already knew. They get the opportunity to explore the why. Interesting story, overwhelming amount of kink.. Lots of extra friends and acquaintances that add to the learning process. Nicely done. Clint is struggling with life since he lost his partner Ross, sinking into depression, unable to sleep. Not given much of a choice, he goes on vacation at Scotland's, a man who wants him badly. Both men are switches and Clint fights his feelings valiantly before caving. Both have particular kinks that perfectly fit together, some pain, exhibitionism, Shibari, etc. It's also a tender story of overcoming grief and pain and finding a new love, oh so steamy and adventurous. There is an odd total dependency on friends for Clint and an inability to function they take advantage of. I received a copy of this book through Booksprout and this is my voluntary opinion.
Note: this is billed as a standalone but the first 7 books should be read first. I didn't have time to read them first, and I can't help but wonder if I'm missing some depth. They're on my TBR now, so I'll revisit this review once I've read them!
But this book on its own is a portrait of grief and anguish and guilt in the wake of tragedy. Clint is reeling from the loss of his partner, and refuses to even consider the possibility of love and kink again. And then Scotland turns his world upside down.
Clint's story is emotional and gritty and will send you through the wringer. It's worth the journey (and the tears).
Finally, we get the king of kink, Clint’s story, and it’s emotional, has a touch of angst, and plenty of steam and kink. He has been a bit of a mystery man throughout the series so far, and I’m so glad we finally get his story and that he found some peace from his past at last; Scotland was the perfect man for him, and they worked so well together. I’ve enjoyed every book in this series so far, and this one was no different. Highly recommended. I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
This has been such an excellent series and this the final book I thought was the best. I absolutely loved the MC's especially Clint who really endeared himself to me and I really felt both his pain and emotion. I especially enjoyed the fact he went to Scotland where I was born! The author has covered life in the kink community so well and seeing Clint the King of Kink explore his sub side was as well as his Dom persona was so sexy and hot! Such great secondary characters as well. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This was an amazing read and a fantastic way to finish out the series! The callbacks to previous couples and scenes made for fun Easter eggs but also made me wish it wasn’t ending because I need so much more of all these characters and their lives especially those we didn’t get to really meet beyond quick appearances (Looking at you Malone and Oliver). O can’t wait to read what M.C. writes next.

Clint is an easy character to feel for, and watching him work through the aftermath of grief and toward a healthy relationship with kink and with Scotland, who has wanted him for a while, is full of feeling as well as a solid amount of heat. Overall, a rewarding read, especially for readers of previous books in the series, who will see some familiar faces here.

Clint is in need of something to help him move forward after the loss of his partner. A vacation with Scotland, a man who has wanted him for a long while and has believed that he was unavailable, turns out to be just what he needs to reconnect and move forward. Although he tries to resist they really are compatible. This was kinky and sweet as well as emotional. And a really good finale to this series.

This is a lovely, tragic, well-written, and engaging story about grief and healing, and allowing yourself to change and move on even if you never let go. The characters are well-developed and believable, and the emotions on the page are palpable. I really enjoyed this twisty, sometimes sad, sometimes satisfying journey into the Unkinked world of MC Roth.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. Scotland wanted Clint for awhile and it wasn't until Clint crashes that he gets a chance. I liked how Scotland helps Clint over his grief. They are well suited for each and time spent together allows them to discover this. It was an emotional ride that worth it.
Clint is a damaged man with a past that still lingers. Scotland wants to be the man to pull him out and through to the other side, in this sizzling and erotic BDSM MM romance.
