Have read this book many times over.. It has a unique way of telling the story of Royalty. And while it is not up date.. (the book ends well before the death of Diana, Princess of Wales). From a historical stand point it does it's job. This was the first book that I picked up when my interest in the Tudor era started when I was a teenager and I have used it as a quick reference guide ever since. From the Tudors to the Stewart's to the Hanover's to the Windor's It really is well worth the money spent if you can get a copy in good condition...
The book “Chronicle Of The Royal Family”, is a book that you read, of course, but it feels like reading an encyclopedia. It’s not easy to read. You should really use this book as a reference book.
The book sheds light on the entire history of the British Royal Family. The book was published in 1991 and contains a separate family tree and an extra appendix from the year 1992. All kings, queens, dukes, etc. are mentioned, but not only that, but also the most important facts and events, often with the exact dates. Add to that the many images and it is a book that delights the enthusiast.
The book is very educational and fascinating. When you hold your book like this, you realize what a job it must have been to research and work out all of them. In addition, probably some thinking, because which facts and events will you use and which will you leave out…. Developing a book like this can be a real life’s work. It is therefore understandable that they have stayed with 1 edition. Although I think that the real enthusiast would like to see a sequel to this. A lot has happened within the Royal Family over the past thirty years.
The book is now only available second-hand, but it is certainly worth buying despite being dated.
Alot if information very interesting. It's not a normal read, but very helpful to understand what was happening year by year. Lovely pictures. Goes up to 1990.
