Really happy with this conclusion!

It's been such a fun series - a great blend of fantasy and horror - so it's nice to see this getting a worthy conclusion. I'm glad they took the time and space for an oversized issue, that's quite fitting.

I didn't recognise Elliott when they jumped forward though whoops.

The artwork is fantastic and has been such a consistent draw for me.

The ending felt perfect, and I'm so glad. I'm looking forward to going back and reading the full series, now that all the issues are out.

Highly recommend this series for lovers of horror/fantasy graphic novels - keep an eye out for the trade paperback in early July!

I’ll talk about the whole run here, since I’ve avoided getting hung up reviewing the earlier issues

Really really bad pacing issues, some of the worst I’ve seen in comics; flashbacks and world-hopping and time jumps and huge time skips into the future, no obvious flow and I think kinda lazy exposition. Unclear connotations from a lot of the art, which is a huge shame because the art has a lot of bright moments. Tonal dissonance all over the place, inconsistent violence, and the dreaded sense that so many big important story beats here indicate a lightly reskinned telling of Star Wars without any of that highly specific, earnest and winceworthy charm that something like Star Wars has baked into its DNA.

I was able to get the whole run for cheap at a local comic shop and took the gamble. And there’s so much here that I would love to love, the premise and the style and scale, but it needed a stronger editor or a more experienced collaborator somewhere along the process.

All that said, I would give the next thing these lads get up to a try. The best thing about the model at Image is also usually the worst thing about Image at the same time, and I’m glad this team took a swing and I’m sure they learned a lot and I’m sure that this works for other people.

Much better than I expected. Beautiful visual storytelling.

A pretty damn good first book from the soy boys. Keep going, I was impressed. The design really puts it over the top.
