⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ "Think Stephanie Plum goes to Florida. With Jack Reacher. Highly recommended." —Carmen Amato, bestselling author of the Detective Emilia Cruz police series and 30-year veteran of the Central Intelligence Agency.
--------------------- Enter the series at any book - each is a complete standalone mystery! ---------------------Mason’s fellow retired SEAL buddy, Arturo, invites him and Shee to his Florida lake house for the weekend. Eager for a well-deserved break from their benevolent mercenary work at Loggerhead Inn, they arrive to find a passable vacation cabin, a beautiful lake view, a half-eaten sub, and no Arturo.
Clues lead them to an underwater cavern deep in the lake and a chemical smuggling ring spearheaded by a troubled SEAL from Arturo’s past.
They’ll need to call in reinforcements from Loggerhead if they’re going to survive this vacation…
Back on the Florida coast at the Loggerhead Inn, Angelina goes rogue after reconnecting with a woman who tricked Mick McQueen out of money years earlier. When her revenge plot backfires, and a fellow conman ends up behind bars for murder, she’s got twenty-four hours to fix her mistake before a wealthy gangster takes care of things his way.

With their leader gone, the team needs to divide to conquer two different cases! Of course, as usual ... things get more complicated than originally expected, and before long - everyone is fighting for their life!
It is hard to find a comparison to this book (and series) because to be honest it is in a class of its own and I just love it. There is so much going on that it never gets boring or gives you time to breath before it's on to the next (often deadly) situation. There are two cases and two sets of teams dealing with the situations, with a chapter dedicated to each team. This does mean the story jumps around and you have to wait for the next chapter to find out what happened but I think it works because it builds up the tension and anticipation of what is to come and truth be told both are equally as compelling stories, especially the closer you get to the end of the action. I love the characters. I know this is a spin off from the author's Pineapple Port series, so it does have some humour in it but it is more grown up with tougher but still like able characters. I can't wait for the next book or for the series to come out as audio books. When a former Seal friend of Mason's calls and invites him to come visit, he and his girlfriend Shee take a vacation, only to find no sign of him in the cabin he was renting. When bullets start to fly, plans of sitting by the beach goes out the window and they call in reinforcements from the Loggerhead Inn, a group of ex and damaged service men and women. Can they find Mason's friend and work out what is going on? Meanwhile a chance meeting with an old nemesis has the Loggerhead manager Angelina planning revenge but she isn't the only one with a plan. When one of her team finds himself behind bars for murder and the heavy hitters of the team helping Mason it's up to Angelina and the youngest team members to prove him innocent before they end up joining him behind bars. I was given this free review copy book at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
Two stories in one book keep things moving. Mason gets a mysterious call from a friend needing help, but when he and Shee get to the vacation spot, Arturo is gone. It takes some investigation and some swimming, to find Arturo and solve the hijacking he was working on with the help of some Loggerhead friends. Meanwhile back at home, Angelina is looking for revenge on the couple who cheated Mick out of a lot of money only she gets more than she planned on when one of her own gets charged with murder. The Loggerhead mercenary group (the kind with morality) is a bunch of retired/injured ex-military with various skills who help Shee and Mason take care of jobs that need more than what the police would do (usually with a body count). I enjoyed both stories and the interaction between characters. Looking forward to the next book in the series. I received an ARC and I am voluntarily reviewing it.
This book really highlights Angelina. She tries to help her high school nemesis updating her security system. Little does she know what she's getting into. She realizes something is wrong and starts probing to find answers. She figures everything out and is satisfied with the outcome. In the meantime, Shee and Mason go on vacation to spend time with Mason's friend, who is not at the cabin when they get there and it looks like he's been kidnapped. Mason finds him and they immediately take him to the hospital and Shiva stands guard. Shee and Mason keep getting shot at and figure out who is behind everything. When the leader figures out who's behind all his troubles, he tries to get his men together, but there's only two left. Hand-to-hand combat between Shee, Trimmer, Mason, and the bad guys is a nail biter.
Great Mystery- Great Thriller This wonderful story is the seventh installment in the Shee McQueen series. Since the stories build on each other, it is best to read them in sequence. This episode has lots of members working outside their comfort zones as several operations are going on at once. One is helping a former SEAL with a crazy former SEAL. Another is a purely revenge move. And of course, these backfire causing even more adventure. As always, the author fills the story with great humor and insight into the Florida lifestyle. The mystery is very good with many moving pieces. There is a lot of action, but no bad language, minimal blood, no gore, and no over-explanations. I have really enjoyed this series, and all the books written by this author.
I love the humour in these books. Shee and Mason find themselves in trouble when they go to help an old friend of Mason's with his investigation, and back at the Inn Angelina finds trouble when she decides to take revenge on an old adversary. Both teams face danger but the humour and quips between them all help keep the darker aspects of the story at bay. The story is fast paced, thanks to the split nature of the adventures and is a delight to read. I received an advanced copy of the book but voluntarily leave this review.
Fun book in a fun series. Mason and Shee have gone off to see a former Navy Seal friend of Mason's, but when they get there he's nowhere to be found. When they go into the little nearby town they are shot at. They are determined to find Arturo and figure out what is going on. Meanwhile, Angelina is having her own issues with a husband and wife who bilked Mick out of a lot of money several years ago. She decides to get that money back one way or another. So two separate things going on. This is a fun series with humor, excitement and twists and turns.
Mine. This is the seventh book in the Shee McQueen Mystery Thriller series. The reason I enjoy it is it seems to be a mashup of Stephanie Plum and Jack Reacher humorous action adventure stories. I enjoyed the split missions. The supposed sting on Angie’s old nemesis and Mason needing to help find Arturo and resolving the tractor trailer heists.
There is a lot going on in both missions. Angie doesn’t want Shee to know and Shee and Mason are too busy to realize things are amiss back up. Both groups of mercenaries need a little help and Angie finds a way to deliver for all of them. It’s great to have friends.
Read this as a standalone or part of the series. You’ll be able to follow along with no trouble.
I give this 4.5 stars as it made me laugh even though the topics were a little on the dark side. I was given an advanced copy and am not required to leave a positive review.
Pretty close to a 5 rating. This was a win in a Goodreads Giveaway. New author to me and thoroughly enjoyed the book. It moves fast with 2 different but connected storylines. There is mystery and humor and you just have to love the characters of Mason, Shee, Angelina and more! I will read other books in this series as well as her other books.
Received as a gift via the author's website, ive read the entire series. This book was, i think, the most exciting of the bunch:-) No spoilers from me, so suffice it to say that it's a standalone, but I do recommend beginning at the beginning....
It's extremely difficult to strike the perfect balance between thriller, mystery and humor, but the author of this series knows just how to do it. Enjoy the exciting vacation!
This was a good book even though it was a bit predictable.... I guess it just wasn't my cup of tea! It had mystery and action. I would recommend it to the right reader!
Thanks to Goodreads Giveaways for the kindle copy of this book!
Although this is stand-alone book I recommend you Start with the 1st book And get to know all the characters And behind story Then you will truly enjoy and appreciate this book!!! A+
What are they doing? How’d they do that without going to jail? And you’re with who, I thought you were with ——————-? Oh enjoy this book with the twist and turns etc. Amy Vansant, I loved this book.
