Welcome to Hollywood Lakes, where the magic begins at midlife.

When Shay reopens Hollywood Lakes Inn, her biggest worry is whether the plumbing on the 200-year-old house will spring another leak. But as she readies for her first VIP guest, she’s caught in flashbacks that never actually happened—memories so vivid she wonders if she’s losing her perimenopausal mind.

With no time to dwell, she focuses on Porter Nichols, the famous screenwriter renting the entire second floor as a writing retreat. He’s got a script to finish and a terrible case of writer’s block. But when an unexpected guest arrives bringing along some disgruntled muses, Shay senses the problem is magical in nature.

The deeper she delves into Porter’s mystery, the more her own is revealed, and the fate of the word witch is called into question. She’ll need to summon all of her power—and the ghost of her beloved grandmother—to protect the legacy of the witch.

Hollywood Lakes Magical Midlife is a coming-of-middle-age series filled with witchy adventures, ride-or-die friends, and a slow-burn romance. (And wine. Lots of wine.)

I really did enjoy when the muses took over and inspired everyone a little to much. Some of the outcomes were hilarious but this book focused a lot on the showbiz side of Film making and acting while also mentioning and criticizing AI a few times (totally agreeing btw) which let to the book reminding me just a little too much of the real world which I like to escape when reading a book especially a book about magic
I also didn't fully enjoy the ending of the book eg the negotiating part, solution for when the inspiration became to much and the managing the muses part
I'm furthermore unsure about making Britt a more relevant character in the next book
The last few pages seemed to lead up to making her a more relevant character in the following book but she's rather unlikeable
Overall I enjoyed the storyline and characters in book 1,2 and 3 more

Legacy of the Witch (Hollywood Lakes Magical Midlife Book 4)

Legacy of the Witch (Hollywood Lakes Magical Midlife Book 4) ~ By book four, Shay feels like an old friend. She’s no longer just “awakening” to her magic—she’s figuring out what kind of legacy she wants to leave behind. I loved how Garner tied together threads from the earlier books, revealing deeper truths about Shay’s past and her magical lineage. There are tough choices in this one, and Shay’s strength and heart really shine. The story has plenty of humor and lighthearted witchy fun, but it’s also emotional and powerful. The ending left me smiling, satisfied, and still eager for more adventures in Hollywood Lakes.  ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A fantastic continuation—this series has truly found its magic!

I liken this book to a smooth sailing journey: ensconced in a luxurious yacht I glide along the river while bursts of storyline entertain me an tantalize me with options for change in the revelation of tidbits to keep me wondering what’s next while always winding the story around my imagination to keep me involved. Comfortable and absorbing.

Fun Plot

An innocent spell to help a writer get over writer's block summons the 7 Greek muses. Seven goddesses spreading inspiration in a small town is going to wreck havoc! And it does. This story was delightful.

Very good

I really enjoyed this series. The characters were interesting and likable. I had no problem with the first three books . The plot on the last book was a little disappointing.

Be yourself

Coming into your own power, accepting who you are and embracing every day are the themes that spoke to me in this awesome story. I love the characters and the story line was quite fun. I do enjoy a happy ending!

Loved it!

I really enjoyed this chaotic, sometimes dramatic story of a witch coming into her own legacy. You just never know who you're going to meet if you visit Hollywood Lakes.
