People always say, “Life is about the journey, not the destination.” What they don’t tell you is that the destination changes. Learn how having the heart of an entrepreneur helped me survive, and even thrive, through disability, chronic illness, job loss, identity crisis, and, yes, business ownership. What’s more, discover the same entrepreneurial spirit inside of you. Even if you never own a business.
This is a gem of a book that includes helpful wisdom for anyone, not just entrepreneurs. I don't own a business, rather I am a stay-at-home homeschooling mom. I am also the parent of a teen who lives with disability. Jamie Smith's Key Traits of an Entrepreneur are relevant to my life as a home manager. I loved her discussion of independence vs autonomy and how sometimes doing something myself isn't the best option; it's okay to delegate. I appreciated her personal stories about reframing circumstances and changing plans as life changes. As my kids are moving into adulthood, my time commitments will be different. Jamie offers helpful advice as I consider how to best invest my time in a new season, whether or not I get paid for my work. This book was an easy read with encouraging practical suggestions to think about. Anyone who has wrestled with changing circumstances and goals will benefit from reading Destination Changes.
