Step into the magical world of Child's Play fairy tales... Traditional tales are a well-established part of all cultures. Retold from the originals, these lively stories will captivate readers with their delightful illustrations and fun lift-up flaps which really add to the action. The 'flip-up' flaps encourage prediction and discussion, and well-known stories will give young readers confidence.
This children’s book is one that is near to my heart. There are many versions of this fairy tale, but the illustrations in this book are colorful and friendly to children of all ages. This book in particular is a pop-up version which is always fun for children; it keeps them engaged. Throughout the book the gingerbread man runs away and almost gets eaten by all sorts of animals as he exclaims, “Run! Run as fast as you can. You can’t catch me. I’m the gingerbread man.” Once he meets Mr. Fox, he isn’t so confident anymore. It would be fun to read this book aloud to a class with other versions of this traditional tale and let the students vote on which one is their favorite. Then, they can pick their favorite and make a story board for the book of their choice and compare their boards with other students. This type of activity is engaging and fun for the students.
This is a pop-up version of the traditional tale of the gingerbread man. The gingerman runs away and almost gets eaten by all sorts of animals until he meets Mr. Fox. I have read better versions, but the pop-up is always an easy score with children.
