Heartbroken, stand-up comic George decides to escape from an emotionally chaotic London and runs away to the Isle of No’Man, swearing off all men…except for a stranger with movie-star good looks and a sexy seaman. Not a good start.
George is an unashamedly fat, effeminate gay man desperately trying to find his path back to happiness. He throws himself into this new adventure, immersing himself in managing the island café, whilst trying to win over the locals and juggling some outdoorsy hunks. But it’s not long before problems from his deeply entangled past find their way across the sea. Unexpected love reaches out to find a vulnerable George, but will his shattered heart be ready to receive it?
His story will help you believe in love again. Or at least enjoy the failings of a dramatic comedian-cum-barista along the way, who has no idea what he’s doing.
"This is a rollercoaster ride - honest, funny, bawdy and brilliant!" - Lorraine Kelly
I loved 'Isle of No'Man' so much! Witty, kind, cheeky, silly, sexy and takes you on an adventure to a world that is both recognisable to any millennial, but just a bit more colourful and wonderful. Rom Com at its absolute best. I read it in a day and a half, unable to put it down, desperate to know how everything works out for the protagonist George. Like so many of the best stories, it’s a tale of lust, love, self doubt, growth, foolishness and most importantly, the love between friends. After a devastating breakup George heads to a small tourist filled island to run a cafe, escaping his real life working in tv and performing standup comedy in London. Only it turns out no’man isn’t quite an island of no men, and sexiness ensues. If your internal monologue can be dramatic, self deprecating, sassy and you ever laugh a bit too much at your own jokes, then this book is for you, and you will see so much of yourself in George (and Nat!) and you will thoroughly enjoy living vicariously through his escapades. A must read, for anyone, particularly the girls, gays, theys and the Beyoncé worshippers, if you need a bit of joy in your life.
Amazing funny read, from front to back had me laughing. Quite a unique read I felt the honesty emotion and passion from the author. It felt so real in his escape from city life to to rural life, I wanted to join him in the cafe for a slice of delicious cake. Entertainment in a book. Must read is you want to keep chuckling . Janet
This book is absolutely brilliant, it will make you laugh out loud. It’s honest and relatable and it’s easy to get to know the characters and fall in love with them. George is a cutie and I would recommend having a read and getting to know him!
