In some respects this book is very much like the first 'Adventures' I read so my remarks are still consistent with what I said about it, which was that it really is a great read. Author Dave Perrin has that rare facility to be able to write naturally and easily about himself and what goes on in his life with honesty and without ego getting in the way. At times the blood and guts descriptions of the procedures could induce fainting in the ultra-sensitive, but frankly I found it very interesting particularly when Dave hit a dead-end in the diagnosis and had to go back to his lecture notes, fellow vets and other sources.
I love Dr perrins writing, loving attitude toward people, pets, and farm animals. I read a lot of vet books and he's a favorite because I love that his animal stories are amazing and he equally describes the hearts of the owners. Excellent character development
I read Dr Perrin's first 2 book shortly after they were published and had forgotten how much I enjoyed them. This one too was highly entertaining, emotionally rich and at the same time, educational. The anecdotes about his interactions with his clients and their animals were so well written I could see them happen. It was easy to to understand and feel his mixed emotions when it came discussing his relationship with his father. I really enjoyed this book a lot.
