Jamie is in his last year of primary school and loves being the best footballer in school.Until it's announced that a new, Brazilian student will be joining mid-term. Will the new boy overshadow Jamie's skill? From the school pitch to the beaches of Rio, Jamie Johnson is going to learn there's more to being a great footballer than he ever imagined.
Jamie Johnson is in primary school in year 6 and every year, the year six’s play a football match against the teachers. The teachers have one every year so far and the book explains how Jamie tries to put and end to the teachers winning streak. Days before the students decide who they want to represent their captain, the school announces that there will be a new boy from Brazil who will join the school. Because Brazil is the home of football, everyone expects that this boy will be better than Jamie. When the boy joins, he speaks with a stutter. He also carried around a note book which no one saw inside. The boy turns out to like football in a different way to anyone else. Whilst the vast majority of people enjoy playing football, he enjoyed writing notes about it and is almost like a manager. The boy and Jamie become best friends and then, only to Jamie, he stops speaking with a stutter. It turns out that he speaks with a stutter because he is sad that his mother died. Only when he is with Jamie that he then becomes happy. The boy's father later take Jamie and Rafael (the Brazilian boy) to Brazil. This is where Rafael shows Jamie to a man called mestre which in Portuguese means master. Mestre teaches Jamie to dance with a football to the beat of music. Jamie then uses the tricks that mestre tought him to beat the teachers for the first time ever. I liked this book because, as a Brazilian, I understood what each of the words meant such as Jamie's nickname which is forginho. That translates to little fire. Also, in Brazil there are many films about Brazilian football and I remember watching an autobiography of ronaldingho (a Brazilian legend) and he said that he learnt playing football by listening to music and trying to dance to it but with a football and that is exactly what Mestre teaches Jamie to do.
Would recommend to anyone that enjoys sports because it’s really inspiring and enjoyable to read. Genre:Football Series:7th in the series Really enjoyed reading the book. Its very climactic and exciting due to Jamie being the player that he is. It ends really well because of the way that they managed to make a bad experience into a good one. Would recommend to girls and boys from the ages of 10-15
Great book honestly. Football energy packed in with emotion. The words are just filled with passion and determination. Dan really worked hard on this one. The part where they were remembering Rafael's mum made me hold back a tear. Amazing.

It was a interesting book and I liked it a lot because it was a football book. I preferred this book to Alan gibbons one because people can relate more to this because of how every kid wants to be pro and get somewhere and it’s just like Jamie Johnson how he is determined to be the best that he can be.
I had to read this for work but I would recommend it (and the whole Jamie Johnson series) for anyone who is struggling to get an 11-14 year old to read, especially if they're only interested in football.
The book was a football story about a young boy who met a Brazilian boy and he went to Brazil with him for a week. He learned all things about Brazil leading up to the teacher vs pupils match back in England. Jamie learned all types of things like the skills and eventually played futsul in the new gym built in Brazil. Eventually the pupils beat the teachers in the game and ended well. It was the last book in the series and would recommend it to any football fan
This book is all about how Jamie needs to add a little extra brazillian flair into his game so that he can win for the first time in the pupils vs teachers game at his school. My favourite bit about this book is how the person that taught Jamie learnt all that he knew about football with a table tennis ball with 16 years in jail. My favourite character is EL Mestre becaus3e of his skill
I think it was really good and it is my favourite Jamie Johnson book because I prefer him when he is younger and also he goes to Brazil and meets a football legend. Also I like how the big game at the end was against the teachers which is really good.

I enjoyed reading it because it was a bit different to all of the other Jamie Johnson books it is a book about football and a boy from brazil came to england in Jamie Johnsons school and the tension was high as brazil is the country of football and could Jamie defend his title?
When Jamie Johnson heard a new kid was coming to town... and he was Brazilian. JJ knew he wasn't going to be the best anymore. Until he wasn't a football player but a manager. So as he and JJ became friends JJ was invited to Brazil. But his mum said no, and as he finally convinced her she finally said yes. Jamie is going to learn the Skills from Brazil.
This might be Jamie's last year in a primary school but he still wants to go to Rio for his dream coming true when he finds out there's a new Brasilian boy coming to town he still doesn't give up in football and that his dream so he didn't want to give up on his dream becoming a Hawkstone footballer.
