Dear Jacob is heartbreaking yet inspiring. Patty Wetterling shares her family’s story with raw honesty, taking us through grief, hope, and decades of advocacy after her son’s abduction. It’s both a personal memoir and a reminder of how one voice can spark real change. Painful to read at times, but ultimately a story of love, resilience, and hope.

The inclusion of Jacob’s memory throughout the pages is tender and grounding. Despite the heaviness of the subject, Patty’s resilience and compassion shine through, making this more than a story about tragedy ,it’s a story about love, perseverance, and the enduring belief in hope.

This is not an easy book to read emotionally, but it is an important one. It reminds us of the power of one mother’s voice, the importance of community, and the responsibility we all share in protecting the most vulnerable.

I remember very well when Jacob was abducted and followed the story throughout its duration, and I remember exactly where I was when I heard his body was found. This is a heart-wrenching story of an unthinkable crime with a devastating outcome. I am amazed as to how this family survived and how strong they were to endure. I commend Patty and the JWF for all they did to make so many changes in our society and our laws to protect our children from predators. If there is anything positive from Jacob's story it is this! This is not a read for the faint of heart as it will bring tons of emotion to the surface but it also brings understanding and empathy for families left behind.
