Lost Legacy

I'm the author of The Skull Chronicles, a series of fantasy adventure novels set in the world of the mysterious and powerful crystal skulls.
Real life crystal skulls came into my life in the summer of 2011. I was immediately fascinated by them and felt a compelling desire to create their stories. They have been in existence for thousands of years, held sacred by ancient cultures all over the world, yet so little is known about them and their origins. To date, I have published the four books in the series, Lost Legacy (Book I), The Red Skull of Aldebaran (Book II), Daughter of the Gods (Book III), and most recently Khalia's Tomb (Book IV).
I am a spiritual adventurer, drawn to explore the truth of worlds and dimensions beyond the one we inhabit. I am a healer and have trained in a number of complementary and energy therapies, and I have a deep knowing that there is much more to life than we experience with our physical senses. My books subtly (and sometimes not so subtly) reflect this.
My first book was Forgotten Wings, which is a handbook for spiritual growth and personal transformation, and drew on my years of experience in the healing sphere. Since then I have plunged headfirst into writing fiction, an activity that allows my imagination free rein to do as it wants. I am currently working on two new novels, which is a total departure from everything I have ever written before in a completely new genre for me. It is an exciting challenge.
I live and write in the beautiful and ancient county of Wiltshire in England, surrounded by its sacred sites and awe-inspiring monuments. It is a land that inspires me and nourishes my soul.

I read this book not only because I am drawn to stories about crystal skulls but also for literary reasons because I have written a novel about a crystal skull. I am familiar with the Atlantean and Lemurian legends so I can appreciate the impressive research and creativity this author has achieved. I found the book to be wonderfully reminiscent of old-fashioned story-telling. The protagonist, Gemma, is a sweetheart, an endearing character who carries the modern-day plot on her adventure of self-discovery, self-help, and personal growth. Lost Legacy revolves around two crystal skulls, their secrets, powers, and destiny. The dark pursuers who want to misuse the skulls vs. the enlightened ones who want to protect the skulls. If I were an avid fantasy reader, I would probably love this story; I am more a mystery/ghost story reader and writer. No doubt, crystal skull aficionados and visionary fiction readers will find this a compelling read. And if you are a quartz crystal fan, practice energy healing, or part of the free-flowing spiritual movement in the new age, you won't want to miss this mythic adventure.

Normally, I do not read fantasy. After all once you have read all of J. R. Tolkien, what could ever measure up to his standard? However, when I received a request to review this book, I was intrigued.
The fantasy part of the story is straight forward. Thirteen skulls brought to Earth by aliens to be used by us to gain the knowledge they have acquired. The skulls were brought years ago and as mankind becomes aware of the power they hold, there are some who try to steal them for their own purposes. Eventually the skulls are scattered and hidden in various parts of the Earth as the story reaches modern day.
Here is where the approach is different, at least in my experience. As Henderson tells the history of the skulls, she mixes in the modern day story of Gemma Mason who begins having dreams about the skulls. Gemma eventually decides to write a book about her dreams. This switching from the fantasy story to what is happening with Gemma kept me reading.
The writing is above average, and the philosophy that Henderson imparts is not only worth reading, but worth a pause for reflection. The novel suffers from more telling than showing but moves at a good pace.
This was a hard book to rate for me. I give it three stars as a fantasy novel, but the writing style deserves four. But since this is for fantasy fans, three it is.

It's a 3.5 for me, so I rounded up to 4. I like how the stories of the past intertwine with the present. It's also a different take on the crystal skull mythologies.

Really enjoyed Gemma's tale
Skulls made out of the finest of stones, spread across the world. Hidden for centuries, Gemma starts dreaming and writing about them.
Now.. the book was well written with just a couple of mistakes. (Darn spell check--) but the tale engrossed me enough that I read it in one sitting. Kudos to the author.

I’ve always been fascinated by stories about the crystal skulls so when I saw this series I had to try and read it. So, book 1 ended on a cliffhanger (bad, very bad - I hate cliffhangers) but, as I already have book 2 I will try it and see how I feel about the series. I gave 4 stars to book 1 so you can see imho it is a good book. Yes, I recommend reading this series.

What a great read..as the characters move from civilization to time-line s the excitement of unexpected adventure and people and skulls never stop right up to the very last page
