This book has a very original premise to it that none of my hundreds (probably thousands actually) of other design books features. Most books showcase multiple interiors all designed by a single designer for their many clients. This book shows the many, many houses of one woman which have been decorated by quite a collection of designers. Personally, the idea of living in that many different houses over the years exhausts me, but to each their own. I appreciated how the various residences over the years showed the evolution of the owner’s tastes over time. The Paris apartment was probably my favorite of all of those featured. I will say that this book does not represent how the vast majority of us live and furnish our homes, so keep that in mind if you’re hoping for easily translatable decorating tips. Overall, I found this book to be a fresh perspective on residential design history.

Such a waste of money! This book is written by the author as an ode to herself. The name dropping made the text unreadable. The book is full of overdone, outdated rooms. They are all so stuffy, pretentious, and unlivable. I unfortunately didn’t come away with any design ideas, as the title suggests.
