Change Control Diet

Rate this book
It's not how fast you lose weight that's important, it's how long you can keep it off. Change Control Diet is a process to change eating and exercise habits. The foundation of the program is making small stepwise changes for reducing calories and incorporating healthier food choices and exercise over time. Worldwide obesity has more than doubled in the past four decades with taking the weight loss industry’s sexy, fast weight loss approach and the nutritionist’s approach of eating 100% healthy. Currently, obesity and overweight statistics support that not only do approximately 95% of people fail at diets but they also end up putting more weight on after the diet. If you want to lose the weight once and for all, Change Control Diet will teach you how to change your eating and exercise habits one small step at a time. Learning to eat differently is far more complex than trying to quit smoking or drinking alcohol because you need to eat to survive. You do not need tobacco or alcohol to survive. "Suiter's guide introduces readers to the author's flexible, effective plan for long-term, healthy weight loss. The most effective way to lose weight and keep it off, Suiter argues, doesn't involve drastic, immediate sea changes. It involves small, consistent changes to diet and exercise--changes that become habits, not chores--staying optimistic and forgiving yourself when you misstep. The easy-to-follow charts and uplifting tone will make this book an invaluable resource for many readers struggling with the scale." Kirkus Reviews “The Change Control Diet is a very simple approach to weight loss that anyone can follow and succeed. This book is not about dieting rather it is about changing your lifestyle. There's no prescribed menu, point counting, or medication. I strongly agree with the program's philosophy about slowly changing eating habits and incorporating additional activity into your daily routine to bring about long term weight loss. Losing weight does not need to be a complicated process. Thanks for putting in writing what I have been trying to explain to patients for years. I am recommending this book to my patients." Ronald M. I found it hard to rate this book. If I was rating on the concept discussed I would have given it a 5 star rating - I think the 10% reduction methods for diet were brilliant and I love the slower longer term approach. As well as this I learnt that on an average day I was eating 4 times my daily allowance which explained why it was so hard to stick to a "diet".

However, in saying that, I found the layout of this book quite confusing. It discussed levels of diet but then later on in the book discussed levels 1 onwards and I could not understand whether level one was just 10% reduction each time or the second reduction was level two.

I also did not agree with the author on his stance on eating 6 times a day. More and more studies are rebuking this information and many people would do better eating proper meals and not being afraid of being hungry in between (spoiler alert: most of us struggling with weight rarely experience hunger - this is not why we eat most of the time). I would prefer to eat on less occasions than constantly eat or think about eating (6 times a day!).

But, I realise we are all different and I love the concept the author presents. Sometimes a gradual reduction in food with a gradual increase in exercise is not such a shock to the system and easier to sustain. I am using this concept as well as increasing my daily steps by 10% each week too. I am still confused as to food levels this book outlines but I have taken the parts I liked about the concept and have integrated them into my life.

This diet sounds like an easy way to lose weight and keep it off; all it takes is positive thinking and self-control. It explains everything in an easy to understand manner and gives you helpful charts that break down the elements of this diet. Best of all, its not as restricting as other diets and it lets you eat "real food" or rather things like cheeseburgers and ice cream (in moderation of course)!!

The most common sense method I have ever read about for losing weight and keeping it off. Everyone complains about "falling off" a diet wagon. This is a way of life that is simple to get to with small changes that you don't really notice UNTIL you weigh in.

Very well organized and easy to follow. Definitely something that guys would appreciate - not losing all their favorite foods!

I thought this was a great weight loss book. Thanks Goodreads, I won this free book and finished reading it in a day. Change Control Diet had a very common sense approach to weight loss. I plan on implementing this weight loss journey. I believe I can succeed!
