The half-Drow, Ellis Burton has finally reunited with her mother, Claire but something’s not right. Her mother is hiding something where the agency, DRI is concerned, and Ellis isn’t sure she can trust her.

But she’s willing to give her the benefit of doubt for now. Trust, verify and then bring out the magic.

Charlie is still locked up in the DRI offices. The director, who looks strangely familiar offers him a job. Question is, is he considering it to help Ellis or to save his own skin?

Before he answers, he’s got a plan to check out the facility, while no one is watching him. It’ll be an easy in and out job.

Until Ellis shows up in a daring rescue attempt.

A rescue attempt that may just put an end to the DRI.

Can Ellis and her friends reveal just what the DRI is doing to the senator and put an end to the capture and torture of Drow citizens?

Okay, I'm a late bloomer who's a big DC comics fan and spent my childhood summers on the Jersey shore but I was born under a wandering star and have lived in different parts of America ever since. That's enough about me. Need to feel inspired today? Looking for something to make you root for an ordinary hero? I'm all about that in everything I write.

I love a good tale that makes me wonder about things and I love a story even more that leaves me feeling inspired or like I'm capable of doing more than I realized. That's my goal with everything I've ever written. Some of the stories I tell involve twisting, turning thrillers and others have a lot of magic.

There's something to be said for getting lost in another world and coming out the other side feeling a little better about yourself or the possibilities in front of you. That's basically the best part of life in a nutshell, no matter what kind of story I'm setting out to tell.

Thank you for checking out my stories!

At just around five hours, this series is a blast to listen to. Ellis is half-Drow and can use Shadow Magic, and works with mushrooms. She also has been sneaking out into the human world to search for her mother. Because this story builds on the overall series, I recommend listening to them in the order of their release. Drow Magic is the fourth audiobook in the Chronicles of Shadow Bourne.

Ellis and her found mother escaped the DRI, but her brother and Percy have not. To free them, she’ll need the help of the Drow. Ellis breaks a rule and brings her mother to their home. Twists, confrontations, and questions of whether her mother can be trusted, combined with an escape plan, kept me listening into the wee hours. To be honest, I wasn’t sure who to believe. Who can you trust? Will Ellis free those she cares about?

Things are far from over, and I cannot wait for the next installment, Drow Rising. Stephanie Savannah narrates the series and has really captured Ellis and key characters, like Percy and Charlie. If you are looking for a fun, fast-paced, light urban fantasy set against the City of Los Angeles, this is it. This review was originally posted at Caffeinated Reviewer

I've realized most of the reviews are for the OTHER Martha Carr book entitled "Drow Magic". Which was much better than this one.

While this book was ok - and 4th in the series, it didn't hit on all cylinders for me. The fact that Ellis pulled some really dumb stunts - like trusting her mother totally when she had never seen her in her life and her father had warned her away? Now her father had totally screwed up by never telling her the truth about their relationship - which seems to be a strong theme in a lot of these books. Anyway - frustrating parts and too much wishy washy effected my rating. Lots of action for certain if that's what you're looking for.

Rescue mission

Ellis and Claire have escaped the DRI, but now need to go back on a rescue mission to save Ellis' brother Landon and her friend Percy. Of course it's easier said than done, as people on both sides do not want them attempting a rescue. The characters and storylines in this series are great and I always want to finish the books in one sitting. I am looking forward to the next book to see how things turn out.

Ellis finds her mother

The DRI are after Ellis and any Drow they can find. They had captured Ellis and Landon but her mother rescued her. They head to the drow home. What will happen and will they be able to rescue Landon.

Another awesome book in the series and a conclusion to a big part of the storyline so far. This was one big battle, I miss the small time cases working in tandem with Charlie and Percy, I hope we get that again.

Martha is magnificent.

Good continuance of an intriguing tale. The monsters are particularly disturbing. The character interaction lends a nice tension. I look forward to the next story.

Enthralling!

Martha Carr and Michael Anderle are phenomenal paranormal mystery authors.
I haven't yet read a single book by either of them that I haven't loved.

Ellis, as usual, is neck deep in trouble.

With her Drow people, in Sweetwater Cavern, never really trusting her, die to her being half human, and her father seeming not to see just how responsible she has been, Ellis is finding it hard to think of anyone she could ask, to help her rescue her brother, Landon.

But her human mother, Claire, and Landon's partner, Trissa, choose to go along with her, to the headquarters of the DCI, despite the horror that Ellis had been through, before her mother had rescued her from there.

When her Father catches them on their way out of the Caverns, he decides to join them, along with a team of elite Drow. But when chooses Ellis to lead them all, she feels that, at least this time, Connor could see her as a real part of the Drow.

This book was yet another race to the finish line, with Ellis and her people having to do all that they could, to rescue Landon, and the other Drow that the DCI had kidnapped, and were experimenting on.

As luck would have it, this includes Percy, and as is usual with him, a whole host of animals, too! Lol

I'm really enjoying this series, so I'm going straight away, to Book Five: 'Drow Rising', to find out what more trouble Ellis can get into! Lol

Once I'm done, I'll catch you on the flip side, to let you know what I thought about it!
