Understanding Math - Introduction to Logarithms

Rate this book
In this book, we introduce logarithms and discuss their basic properties. We begin by explaining the types of equations that logarithms are useful in solving and then present important definitions, identities, and laws. A graph of common logarithms is included to give students a visual perception of what logarithms look like and to help them understand some of their important characteristics and limits. The concepts discussed here are introduced in a clear, step-by-step manner. Many examples are given throughout to aid in the understanding and execution of new concepts. The goal of this book is to teach students a practical way of thinking about what logarithms are and how they work, in a way suitable for all readers. We strongly believe in teaching by examples, and that repetition is the best way to internalize new ideas. Each example intends to guide the student through the thinking process without skipping steps and touches on all of the new material presented.
