While doing a report on Mars, a young boy must rely on his red colored crayon to get him through his project, yet when the red crayon decides that it is being used just too much, it takes off and begins a wild adventure of its own.
Expected it to be more appropriate for preschoolers but it was not. Maybe a good choice for older elementary or middle level kids who enjoyed The Day the Crayons Quit.
My five-year-old son picked this book out from the library this week. He wanted to check out all red books.
This book didn't work very well for me. It's a picture book, so it would seem that by nature it would skew toward pre-schoolers and early elementary, but the voice of the narrative reads older -- fourth to sixth grade.
This book has great graphics and ties together a lot of factoids and pieces of information that could keep a kid interested. Better for an older crowd but probably still interesting for the younger ones.
