Tired of endless diets and dieting for weight loss or less medication? Want a health therapy that is based on exact goals (with numbers to achieve!) that provide a guarantee of ideal health and absence of chronic disease and symptoms? Want to know more about the method that was used for the best ever known clinical trial on cancer and 6 most effective trials on asthma?
If you answered yes to some or all of these questions, you are on the right page.
You can eat tons of supplements and super foods, drink canisters of super drinks, have 100's of colonic irrigations, and practice yoga for hours every day, but, if your breathing remains unchanged, your symptoms, chronic insomnia, and other health problems will likely to remain unchanged too.
This is because breathing brings vital oxygen, and less than 95% of modern people have right breathing. Modern people, including so called “normal subjects”, simply breathe too much air day and night. (Exact charts, graphs, studies and numbers are inside the book). Overbreathing reduces O2 levels in cells.
The most successful clinical trial in the whole history of cancer research was conducted using the Buteyko breathing method. The results of this trial on 120 people with metastatic cancer (early metastasis) were published in the Ukrainian Oncology Journal. The group that practiced reduced breathing exercises had 6 times less mortality in 3 years in comparison with the control group.
Here is another 6 most effective Western clinical trials on asthma were conducted using the same Buteyko method that targets elimination of chronic hyperventilation. Diets, yoga and any other “natural” or holistic therapy is not even remotely close to these clinical results.
What is common for cancer and asthma? Symptoms and development of these health problems correlates with O2 levels in body cells.
But this is true not only for cancer and asthma, we need more oxygen in body cells to prevent and fight over 150 most popular modern diseases! The conditions are ranging from heart disease and cancer, the main killers in the west, to hormonal and digestive problems, diabetes, and asthma. Natural weight loss is a common side effect of breathing normalization known to any Buteyko breathing teacher.
This book provides an introduction to the Buteyko breathing method and breathing retraining. For topics covered in this book, see titles of chapters and sections.
Dr. Artour Rakhimov is the world's leading inventor of breathing retraining methods and the developer of the Buteyko technique.

Badly needs an editor. Doesn’t provide practical information.
This book is interesting. Buteyko method has had demonstrable clinical success both in the west and in Russia, and the author appears to be one of the most active proponents in this space.
As a maths PhD, the claims made by the author are well measured do not require suspension of incredulity. Each chapter is well referenced with clinical (including double blind, controlled) studies from various countries over the past century.
The illustrations in this edition undermine the credibility of the material, and some of them are more misleading than helpful.
The author is a non-native English speaker, but does a good job of explaining complex material well in English. There are a few spelling and grammar errors (mostly omitted articles)—A good editor would have spotted these, but they don’t spoil the book.
Instead of a blurb, the back of the book lists the author’s personal achievements, including his high school grades, how many miles of exercise he’s done, and what sort of music he plays on piano. I suspect that this is supposed to instil confidence in the mind of the reader, but it really just makes the author seem like a crank.
Most disappointing about this book is the lack of any practical, technical advice on the buteyko method. This is not a how-to, but a why-to. I expect that will leave a lot of readers feeling very cheated.
This is based on the the first few chapters. The steps are clearly articulated. I was looking into the book more from the sleep apnea perspective. Great information!
This is one of the most informative books I've ever read I have got severe emphysema bronchiectasis and COPD after reading this brilliant book I am hoping that I will be able to use it to help my illness.
Skimmed the book because I already know most of the content. Although this book doesn’t teach the method, it’s still a good introduction into the buteyko method
The book presents facts through the scientific studies that make its case strong. But there is no proper guidance on how to do the breathing method. I think the author's second book explains it though I haven't checked it out yet.
This book suggests that by breathing slower and not as deeply we can eliminate many health concerns. I'm not quite certain that i believe that. I would want to know more information before implementing a change in my breathing.
