This commentary for Mark is designed as a reference for each verse. If you do read it page by page as a sectional companion to reading Mark, you'll find much repetition and some padding. That did not bother me though. I also really appreciated the easy and accessible prose. The commentary does not limit itself to Mark but helpfully compares the narrative with other gospels, filling in what Mark leaves out. For me it was perfect as an aid to leading a Bible study on the entire book of Mark. The thematic discussions and observations about application have been a helpful inspiration for my preaching as well.
