Previously published in the Shades of Pink anthology, Highland Eclipse is a short story set in the Magic of the Highlands world as the beginning to a new series about the Time Ops Eclipse Agents.

A member of an elite Time Ops team called the Eclipse Agents, Declan Wallace’s job is to jump through time. He maintains order in the timeline, he hunts down those who would time jump for their own purposes. But sometime Fate intervenes.

After a lifetime of living with illness, Lady Fiona McClure is proving to herself that she is finally healthy in an attempt to swim across the loch. If she makes it, maybe then her overprotective father won’t treat her as a child anymore. When she is snatched and dragged ashore by a man who thought she was drowning, her heart races for reasons that have nothing to do with the swim and everything to do with the man standing before her.

With a mission to finish, Declan can’t allow distractions, and Lady Fiona is definitely a distraction. But he’s discovering that living for the next mission isn’t as exciting as it used to be. Staying in the past is forbidden, but Fiona McClure is his destiny.

Highland Eclipse

"My father says you're to steal me away. Is that true?" Her lovely blue eyes flashed with mischief.
"Your father said that?" Rubbing the back of his neck, Declan met her eyes. "And what did you say about it?"
She dropped her bold gaze. "I told him that nothing so exciting ever happens around here."

I absolutely loved it!! I can only say I am said that is was a short story and not a 300 page novel. I wish it was!

"I doona ken. Explain that to me, Declan. Why do you matter to me so much?"
His body shuddered giving her a slight thrill that she might affect him just as much as he affected her. Pulling back slightly, his eyes met hers.
"Fiona, love, you doona ken what you're doin' to me."

I want to read more about Declan and Fiona! Please write a novel about them Laura. I need to now what happens next!

Good short read

An interesting concept for a time travel book. It's a short read but would definitely read more in the series.

Short story with time traveler to Scotland; I note at beginning of Chapter 2 that the time is set to Spring in 1792. Declan Wallace enters Scotland just when the heroine, Fiona McClure, is swimming in the middle of a loch. He thinks she's shouting for help when she is actually celebrating her victory, demonstrating to all that she is fully healthy and to be treated as an adult. Troubles and romance ensue....

There was a blank page between Loc 230 and Loc 245 the first time I read through, but it seems to disappear and return when I scroll back and forth! The only other editing problem was a space before the period (full stop) at the end of a sentence around 74% (Loc 451). Ms Hunsaker gave the reader a concise and enjoyable story to begin a series that looks promising.

This was a gift from the author for my Kindle, with the hope for a review expressed to all who received "Highland Eclipse." This is my honest opinion: since I am a real sucker for time travel to Scotland, I look forward to reading more books in this series, beginning with HIGHLAND DESTINY.

The author was giving these to people that participated in a contest and I am so glad I did. This was such a great beginning to the coming series. I don't know if I can wait!! Now, this is very short and I think it is just meant to give a glimpse to the coming series. Man, this looks like it is going to be another great book from Laura. I can't wait for more!!

For a short story this was really good. To be able to cover all aspects of love, plot, and action in such a short story, she did a really good job. I liked the H/H, they seemed believable. I like time travel as long as it stays true to the time period, I like reading books of the past and this book, I think stayed, true to the era. I will have to add her books to my tbr list.
