A real-world project, similar to what students would encounter in a professional setting, is developed chapter by chapter. Because professional web development jobs often require programmers to add features to existing sites, each chapter project uses a professionally designed web site. After completing a course using this textbook, students will be able to use JavaScript to build professional quality, dynamic web sites.

This is a very good textbook. It is complete, thorough, and filled with well explained examples. It's not perfect, however. There are just a few typos and an error or two that I detected but that were not described in the published errata.

Good intro to JS basics. Teaches outdated methods like document.write() though.

This was a great textbook for my JavaScript class at ASU. I'm really glad I finally learned JavaScript with this book. Definitely keeping it for later reference, too.
