It was time to let go.At sixteen, I became a mom and a young bride.
At twenty a widower and a single parent.
I worked three jobs to put my son through school, and eventually, myself. Graduating college at forty hadn’t been my plan, but I’d finally done it. With a new job lined up, my life was about to drastically change.
No more double shifts. No more making ends meet. No more living paycheck to paycheck.
I should’ve felt joyous. But all I felt… was alone.
I’d spent so many years working that I hadn’t lived my life.
There were no dates. No casual flings. No weekends away.
And now I realized how utterly sad that was.
Pressured into online dating, I was shocked when a younger guy slid into my DMs. I was even more surprised when my grumpy former boss made a play.
One younger, one older and me between them. I couldn’t resist them, but it felt like too much, too soon.
Could I break out of my cage, or would I forever be destined to be alone?
This is a medium burn, ménage (MFM), standalone romance. This was previously part of an anthology and has been updated with an extended ending.

This was in two parts the majority of the story is Eleanor, August and Jackson’s story. I really related to Ella not the two men part *sigh* but the starting over later in life and changing the direction you are going part. I really enjoyed Jackson he was just so fun and boy was he a talker but he made me laugh. August was so steady and grounded her. This was a short quick read full of sexy time. This is also a instant lust into love kinda read except August there is a shared history already established. The second part maybe the last 20% is part two and is Mack and Steph (Mack is her son). All told in multi points of view. Also instant lust.
ménage (MFM) • age gap with both younger and older MMC 52M/40F/28M • contemporary • single mom of older son •
Entertaining & cute read featuring Eleanor, Jackson, & August. All MCs are largely Mary Sue characters (with voracious "appetites" lol), but that makes this a low drama story filled with plenty of swoon-worthy sexy + sweet moments. Especially loved Jackson's (younger MMC) OTT humor. The only dislikable character gets dealt with satisfactorily, and we also get a bonus part II featuring son Mack's HEA. The book concludes with an enjoyable 3yr epilogue. A majority of chapters are from Eleanor's POV, but Jackson and August split the rest. Part II goes back and forth bw Mack & his new GF, before resuming Eleanor's POV for the epilogue.
I absolutely loved this book. Kris Butler really showed Eleanor growth and coming into her own. I started out a single mom and could relate to her dedication and devotion to Mack. It touched my mommy heart ❤️. The fact that she was able to get to a point in her life and meet two people who were prepared to take care of her after she spent all those years putting herself last was beautiful. And the sexiness of both men, 🔥 🥵 . August and his daddy/Dom just did something to me and Jackson and his carefree self was so inviting. I truly loved both of them. This is a must read!
Caged Heat by Kris Butler.@authorkrisbutler is a favorite author of mine.
I LOVED this book about Eleanor, Jackson & August! Tropes: Contemporary, Male/Female/Male, No MM, Some Taboo Aspects (stepfather - not currently), Age Gap/Reverse Age Gap, MMA, Boss/Employee, Prior Boss, Found Family & HEA!
I enjoyed this story when it was included in the Wickedly Scandalous anthology but love the extended ending. Not only did we get to see more of Eleanor, Jackson, and August—including a yummy epilogue—but we were able to see Mack’s love story unfold before our eyes. A great read!
Absolutely amazing stroy! Another brilliant book by the terrific author Kris Butler. This is just another amazing example of the creative genius that this author is.
