For a World War veteran like Mark Tudor, death is an old acquaintance. Unfortunately, a person never becomes truly numb to its sting.
A good Gajur gave his life.
But will that sacrifice help bring the galaxy back to balance? Or topple known space into a war to end all wars? Armagost wasn't the only light snuffed prematurely. The attack destroyed an irreplaceable piece of Valint's life, as well.
Now Mark must toe the delicate line between law man and friend. Partner and lover.
With those in power divided, the work has only begun. The galaxy no longer needs a maker of peace, but a lobbyist and negotiator. In order to deconstruct the entombed and corrupt system, Mark and the gang must stack the deck in their favor. If only things were that simple.
Someone is targeting Ja-Ra's people galaxy wide. The hot-blooded murder kitties are out to avenge Jarls Vane. And the bureaucratic toads carry legendary grudges. But Mark's wrath is reserved for one group, and one group only.
Stillness.
The assassins will answer for the lives they took. And Mark will wrestle Tan back from their clutches, if it means he's got to cut down every wicked Lyrae to do it.
THE BATTLE CONTINUES TO SAVE THE GALAXY FROM EVIL THAT IS LURKING AROUND EVERY CORNER.
THIS MEANS WAR (PEACEMAKER WARS BOOK 4) by J.N. Chaney and Terry Maggert is a action packed, intriguing, suspenseful, and heartbreaking at times when it comes to how low and sadistic sentient beings can be towards others for nothing more than power and wealth. At the same time, there are those who step up into the role to place their lives on the line to protect those who can not protect themselves and to crush the evil within the known universe.
This book and the series so far is well written, and the cast of characters is well defined. You'll find yourself cheering for Mark Tudor, Perry, Netty, Valint, Drogo, and the rest of Mark's team as they battle the corruption within the Guild and those who will do anything to benefit themselves at the costs of others. You'll also find yourself saddened with the extent of immortal acts one can inflict upon someone else.
Please don't get me wrong, this book and series also goes into a lot of compassion, friendship, loyalty, camaraderie, and love that is shown by Mark and their team.
I really have enjoyed this book and series so far and look forward to continuing with the story. I hope you, too, will enjoy this book and series.
In addition, if you haven't read the Backyard Starship series, I highly recommend it.
Man I truly love this series. Mark has a lot to deal with in this one - a bounty on his head, other races who basically hire him to do the job he's been doing all along, and some really bad bad bad guys.
It was flat out heartbreaking in the second half of the book. Disturbing. Horrific. But the ending was sweet despite the tragedies. It really was hard to read.
Tom Taylorson is fantastic in his audio narration. He really does bring all the characters to life.
This book really ups the anti, even though the clue was in the title. With war comes pain and suffering, particularly amongst friends - no spoilers.
And the obligatory quote, this just made me laugh as the romance picks up pace between Mark and Valint - filling in the backstory for Backyard Starship. Valint immediately appeared ahead and stooped over, her rear square in his vision. “I’m, uh, right behind you,” he muttered. “No funny thoughts, Tudor. Vengeance first.” “Easy for you to say.” Valint snorted, then started moving again after giving him a small, evocative shake of her hips. “For motivation.” Mark cleared his throat diplomatically. “I am prepared to storm the castle.”
I’ve been reading the Backyard Starship series, and when I ran out of current releases. I decided to read this back story the beginning of where that happened. I have enjoyed this series more than any other books I’ve read in a long time. There is so much to love about this series that I cannot list them all. If you’re on the fence about whether this is worth your time or not. You won’t be disappointed. J.N Chaney. Is my favorite writer and that says alot. Given some of the great novelist I’ve read.
When I start one of these books, I have to read it through. The action is nonstop, the characters engaging, and the story is timeless. I laugh, I cry, I have even yelled at twists that I didn't see coming. All of it makes for an engaging story that sucks you in. Can't wait for the next book.
I feel like I always say the same thing, "these books just get better and better", but it's so true. This one had me crying one second, then laughing the next. Heavy sigh....thanks guys!
I'm amazed that this author can write so many fantastic novels, I hope that he never stops writing. His books are some of the best Entertainment I have read and worth the time to read them. Thank you for a very fun entertaining read.
Excellent continuation of the PKW storyline. Striking similarities between what Mark and later Van had to go through. Action and combat were superb. All the characters continued to develop and grow and more missing pieces of the story got filled in. Highly recommended!
Excellent story but dragged out too far in places. Normally I read one book in 2 days max. This one was a tad over a week. Story fills out some holes for the Backyard starship series.
Mark, Perry, and the rest of the crew are on their way to Remembrance to bury their friend Armagost when they are ambushed by some Barundi bad guys and the battles start. Lots of surprises in this great story.
Battles change from “admit nothing” to violent & declared
Mark is building his team to oppose the heinously corrupt faction that is far more numerous than just a turncoat master Gyl-Mareth along with a few henchmen. The search for his friend & shipmate Tan is unrelenting as the few honest Peacemakers expand their investigation. So of course they discover things that scurry from the light under nearly every rock that’s turned over.
Wow just Wow this book is packed with so much action I couldn't put it down. To mention much about what's it about would be nothing but spoiler alerts. A Must Read if you are into the Chaneyverse! Both Chaney and Terry Maggert are excellent authors whom I would recommend to anyone. Keep up the great work guys!
