Rate this book
Many promises are made in high school. Many hearts are broken.

Murphy High head cheerleader Jessica Riley seems to have it all. She has social status, smarts and so many admirers; she’ll never be the girl who frets about not having a date for homecoming, or prom….or anything. She also has the attention of the star quarterback, Wade Quinlan, who sees his opportunity to get the girl he’s had a crush on since grade school. It’s a match made in high school heaven.

But when the new kid, Lucas Foster, catches her eye Jessica finds herself in a struggle with who should win her heart: Lucas, who is new and complicated…and hot by every girl’s estimation, or Wade who is a tried and true friend?

No thanks. All the cliches are there. The smart naive teenage girl torn between the known drunk boy and the mystery of the new boy with problems.

I'm stuck on what to give this book so I'll just go with 1.5 stars. It was almost ok but it just wasn't for me. The main characters were really frustrating, nothing happened so this was very YA with the exception of darker scenes and some details were just dragged on.

Jessica was just really annoying. She was oblivious to how guys felt for her. I couldn't get into the story mainly because of her.

Lucas has a hard past and the author could have played on that even more but to me it fell flat.

Wade was okay but he gave up to easily too.

I know it seems like I'm being rude but this story would have potential if the author went back and did things to it. The one thing that got on my nerves was the whole 'with out' thing. It's not that hard to put the words together.

There is a line from the book that pretty much sums up how I felt about Promise Me:

"Jessica just couldn't get into the book and she made a mental note to reread the section that night to try and finally comprehend the story."

I won't be rereading it though. And I don't recommend this.
