It’s 1633 and Annakiya is on the run, trying to save her life.
Annakiya was sold into slavery at 9 when she was taken from her father in Tunisia. To her, it seemed like life wasn't worth living -- until she found refuge in the home of a sympathetic owner. She also found something she thought was completely out of her reach -- love.
So why was she now trying to get away?
Fans of Karen Valiquette’s new series detailing past lives were spell-bound by her first book, “Soul Journaling - Lessons from the Past” based in 1500s France.
This sequel carries on with her next incarnation in Turkey during the 1600s.
It's so strange, we never gave a thought about it, all our decisions that we make, are actually already decided by the universe, and i.e. we call fate, even our smallest of decisions. Also we don't accept but actually all human beings become weak when it comes to money matters, we often think how will our children or parents live without money, but in reality, we cannot let go of our money in any situation, since we are not able to accept the fact that we are weak for money, so we put it this way, money is important for my family, but not for me! Soul Journaling - The Journey Continues by Karen Valiquette is another of her past life journey during the 1600s. We have already seen her past life in her first book, Soul Journaling - Lessons from the Past which is set during the 1500s as Dominique.
A huge thanks to the author as well as her husband, Steve Valiquette, for sending me over the copy of the second book, in return for an honest and unbiased review. I'll always be grateful to you both, for giving me the opportunity to share your past life journey with me.
This time we see our author in the 1600s, named, Annakiya, a Muslim girl, daughter of a blacksmith, living in Tunisia. At the age of 8, Annakiya, lost her mother and her younger brother in a fire. Then at the age of 9, she was sold into slavery by her father. Next she finds herself on a ship on her destination to Greece, where she has to work in an olive garden and fortunately, she met the king, about whom, her grandfather used to tell her stories. Next she was sent off to Turkey, where a rich man bought her. Her deadliest and nightmarish ordeals began in Turkey with this man, named, Omar. For those painful events, you need to read the book, because, it’s way too torturous for me to share the details, and then she finally saves herself from the clutches of this man. She runs off to the Baroness, Elizabeth's house, who was a very lonely woman. There she met her dream man and her soul mate, Av, who used to work for the Baroness. Soon, their friendship blossomed into something beautiful and so pure and so heavenly. They shared the most pure form of love. But fate had other plans for them and you've to read it to find it out for yourself.
Once again, the author has proved that she is a really talented writer. The moment she began the story of Annakiya, I got completely hooked to the story. She has, no doubt, the natural flair for telling her past journeys. She makes them so interesting and mysterious. The climax was really unpredictable, I never thought that Annakiya would die in such a way, and in the end, you proved it, that it was somewhat, Annakiya's own fault to die in such a fashion, because, she couldn't let go of her fear as well as her weakness, towards her own daughter and to her property. It's true, if she could have given all her money to those robbers, she could have lived and would have inherited all of Omar's property. But then again, you proved it by saying that in our decisions, the universe plays a very major role. And what I love the most about all these outcomes from your past life is that, how our soul mates were already a part of our life in our past life too.
This intriguing tale of yours past life is definitely going to keep the readers on their edges, especially, seeing the fact that, from such a tender age, Annakiya has gone through too much pain and torture. How dreadful her life was in the beginning, but in the end she found her happiness, but not completely, because she was not too brave enough to let go of her fear, the fear which was instilled into her when she was forced to abort her baby and in that process, she lost a part of herself, which she never found in her life.
This is indeed a very touching tale about a young girl named, Annakiya and her hardships and her happiness. Read this book, you'll be thrilled to know more about her and about those mystical facts about the universe.
The structure is a bit different in this book as it doesn't go back and forth between present and past. This leaves room, in my mind, for a more cohesive story and better back-stories on the characters.
Karen's writing style draws you in from the first page and makes you feel like your living the story right along with her.
