*Trigger Warning Advisory*This book has triggers. Reader discretion is advised*
It all started one day in March of 2018. I was bored. There was nothing to watch on television. And the moment of silence prompted a memory. A flashback to a time I wrote movies in a notebook. Small scenes jotted down for no particular reason. Something compelled me to make a move. I jumped up and ran to my computer, anxious to tell a story of which I could see clearly. The scenes of my cleverly crafted idea so wildly vivid. A face. A name. And twisted plots that would rival any movie.
I began typing. The keystrokes were fervent. Soon one sentence gave way to twenty. One hundred words grew to seventeen thousand. And before I knew it, I had a short story. Proof that anything is possible. So, you might ask if I always wanted to be a writer? Was it somewhere in the back of my mind? No! It wasn’t. But I knew I was creative. And I knew I could tell a story. The rest is history. Now I can say I wrote a book that became a best seller. Downloaded for many book lovers to read and enjoy. And the journey is still fresh. There is so much more to write. I am just getting started!
Monica will never learn. I'm in total agreement with Gherlaine, Janine fell in love with her father and enjoyed all aspects of their relationship together. I picked up on that in book 1 when Monica was disturbed by the closeness between the two in a picture she was not included in. If not at the time of Rohan's demise, then surely, shortly thereafter, Janine would have viewed her mother as competition and wanted to be rid of her. I can only hope Roxane, Calista, and Avery get the healing they need. Excellent read!
This book was absolutely phenomenal! delivered a gut-wrenching, emotionally charged story that dives into one of the worst forms of abuse imaginable and she did it with depth, compassion, and raw truth. I devoured it in just a few hours because I simply couldn't put it down!
The character that stood out to me the most was Janine. There was something about her that just lingered with me long after I turned the last page. And that ending the conversation between Gherlaine and Monica left me speechless. I honestly think Gherlaine was right... maybe Janine really was in love with her father, in the most twisted and tragic way. That moment gave me chills and left me with so many questions.
And let’s talk about Calista that courtroom scene was everything! The tension, the emotion, the impact… I felt it all. And the dynamic between her and Drew? Loved it.
Smokey Moment, you have a new fan! This series is bold, brave, and unforgettable.
I truly hope there will be a third book this story needs to continue!
So while the story was a very difficult read just because it’s such a touchy subject. I feel like the story had potential to be so much better and so much deeper, but the writing kind of gave the vibe that it was gonna go deep and it went to surface level and there was just a lot of of loopholes like in the story like. Like when Avery had her abortion, they never said if her dad was the father, they just kind of all alluded that he was like they never deep dive with Roxanne the other sister, so there was just like a lot of of open-ended things and like the character development wasn’t that great for me I feel like it could’ve been written better if it was just more detailed. A lot of the time Calista was just getting up and leaving and that part was really annoying. It was like she wasn’t really fully writing out the ideas if another author had written it I feel like it would have been more fire
This read was phenomenal! This was the worst form of abuse you could conceive! This was very riveting! I read it in a few hours! The character that really stuck out for me was Janine! When I got to the ending after the conversation Gherlaine and Monica had! I think that Gherlaine was right! Maybe Janine was in love with her father! She could have been jealous of her mom! He groomed her from the age of 8! That makes sense of her behavior! I still don’t understand why her mother married him after knowing he was inappropriate with her sister! I blame her mother for this whole situation! Calista was a beating the court room. I loved the dynamic between her and Drew!! One again this read was PHENOMENAL! I’m a new fan!! I’m about to read all your catalogs! 💯
Title: Sins of the Father 2 Author: Smokey Moment Publisher: WordRoc Publications Series: Book 2 Reviewed By: Arlena Dean Rating: Five Review: "Sins of the Father 2" by Smokey Moment
My Perception:
Part 2 of 'Sins of the Father' was still a sad read. I was glad to see one of the sisters taking charge of her mother's defense. I am still unsure about that mother because she could have done much more for her girls earlier. It was good to finally see the girls come together because they will all need lots of therapy when it's said and done. This author did an excellent job with this storyline, bringing out that horrible husband/father and brother that this family had to endure. This was one powerful story that left me in awe.
This was a well executed story about a taboo subject. What really disturbed me was the length of time this man was able to commit such heinous acts. He left so many in mental trauma and physical pain due to his actions. There were excellent twists and turns in this story and I loved how the sister with the least going for herself bossed up and took action. What would have made this series a five star read is editing. For such a great story, the writing was terrible. Worth reading though.
This ending was absolutely PHENOMENAL I couldn't put book 1 down or book 2. I couldn't wait to see how it ended I guessed right with a few things but either way these 2 books are boo I will definitely reread again. I'm definitely going to tell my sister she must read this 2 book series. The author of these books is PHENOMENAL. I will ve reading more from this author.
As I read this story I realized that this accrues more then we want to acknowledge. How could you think you are helping your daughters and sister by molestering them. Now you have left another generation of children having to deal with the fact that their mother is their sister. He deserved to die, but I only wished that he could have been put to shame and have witnessed the pain he caused before he died.
I kept looking for the 2nd part of this book. I was so glad when I finally found it. I knew it would be an awesome finale to part 1. An it was just as I thought. It was great I enjoyed it so much, even through it was sad but over all it panned out. The truth came out. Lata
This book pulls u in and hold on to u until the end. The book had twist and turns but as the reader u could guess what was going on, but the story unfolded beautifully. I still dnt get how she could not have known. I believe she knew subconsciously but did not want to believe what her mind was telling her.
The end of this one really has me questioning Ms thang! The aunt asked the question “ was she aiming for you or him” had my mind spinning because of mom called her frantic and she rushed over why did she have a gun??? There are so many questions I need the answer to!!! Ugh I need book 3 lol
This author Smokey Moment has gained a new fan, I haven't read anything by her, but honneeyy this 2 book series was a MASTERPIECE, so now I'm on the journey to find something else to get into💯💢💯GREAD READ 💯💢💯
I truly v enjoyed the Sin of the Father seties. Some of the story was easy to quess, but there were other details that were not expected. I am looking forward to reading more of Smokey Moments novels.
This was so much more than I expected! It’s a must read as it dives into so many arenas I could imagine it as a compelling tv drama with several episodes. With the ending, I’m hoping for a 3rd book🙏🏾 Very good read!
Well written with great character development. You could read and feel the characters emotions. Winner overall...check it out. Gifts inside each person..
Good read. It is sad that the girls had to endure so much from their father. A father is the one who should protect and guide his children. His family allowed him to get away with so much
Omg this was amazing read . I been a while since a good book had held my attention past a few chapters but I finished part 1&2 in a matter of a four days .
