In these biographies we will learn that God's love is not determined by what He finds in our hearts. Nor does it surprise Him when He finds the sin in our hearts. These things don't stop Him from loving us. It is a relief to the reader to find that these great men in the Bible are human, with passions like we have. If God could mold those chosen people, He can mold us as well. Although their lives can't be replicated, we will find in them a humble spirit, courage, true loyalty, and great faith. Volume 1 talks Abraham, Jacob, Joseph, Moses, Joshua, Samuel.

Even though this book was first printed many years ago, F.B. Meyer lived from 1847 to 1929, it is not difficult to read. Meyer seemed to have a knack on writing on things that would be pertinent to the future as well as to the time he lived. Meyer does a very good job digging into the Scriptures and finding things that we miss when we read the Scriptures. He has a very good instinct on knowing what makes man the way he is even to the present time. For those who love to read the Scriptures, I suggest that you read F.B. Meyer along with it, to help you discover things that you miss.
