The dark man walks in the dark, in a place of fear. He looks for the dark mirror which the old man told him will tell true names. I found this to be an odd series. The books are small. The illustrations are very surreal looking, black and white and swirly. Skimpy writing, not many words but the story gets told.

This is hi/lo horror novel would be appropriate for students in middle and high school. Readers will appreciate that the books in this series do not look like "baby books." They will also be excited to have books from the horror/fantasy genre that are accessible (Lexile level) to them.

Picked this up at my school's library whilst I was supervising Saturday School.

It's refreshing to see horror and thriller in short stories aimed to support students with weaker literacy. The images are good and the story is engaging. Words used are not basic but not too advanced either.

However, I am unclear, from a glance of the book, if this is part of a series or a stand-alone book? The blurb talks of a story that doesn't actually take place in the book. I find that confusing and a bit disappointing.

I think the book is alright overall. But it could of said a little more than what it did. the book was about the dark man having to find his old name and the dark mirror. So he has to go into a dark place and feel the walls so he can find the mirror. When he finds the mirror he sees his own face, and then it kept saying David. But when he left he felt sad.

I have learned that it is scary in the dark when your looking in the mirror. And do not touch walls and keep your eyes opened. This was a good book and I would like to read more of them because they are serios and there cool. Ms.Decker you should check it out it's awesome bye bye.
