James Earl Rodriguez and a couple of his staff members went out on the road to procure the perfect story for their book, The Very Best Short Stories of 2014, and ended up getting more than they had bargained for. This is the collection of stories that resulted from that trip.
Excellent short stories contained in a satirical premise that pokes fun at the serious nature with which some writers are treated. Good fun, and many of these stories were enjoyable enough that I'm sure Ill read them multiple times in the coming years. (A mother and daughter caught driving in a horrible storm with a terrible car - both of them laughing in the face of adversity, a story about a little Minnesota town called Port North and the strange way they celebrate Christmas one year, a mother that can literally read her children's minds because she's psychic - these were a few of my favorites. I'd already stumbled over Port North in a magazine before but it was nice to read it again.) It's nice to have short stories on my tablet for times when I'm on the go and only have small spaces of time to read. I Highly recommend this collection.
Short stories are one of the things that I enjoy the most. If a story doesn't grab you right away you can skip it and go on to the next one and if there are many authors you will find some outstanding reads. This book is one that has many stories of interest.
