Stacie Nightingale has quit her teaching job mid-year, left her fiancé without a word, and moved across country on an impulse. Even more reckless, the aspiring author has had a one-night stand with a man she doesn’t even know…a man she discovers is her new neighbor. She soon finds herself in a relationship she neither wants nor wants to give up. Like the lingering effects of the car accident that caused her impulsive behavior, Stacie tries to ignore the way he makes her heart race. What she learns is that some things should never be ignored…or kept secret.Computer security expert Owen Landry has been divorced twice from cheating wives. That alone should make the discharged soldier gun-shy about jumping into a relationship with someone as secretive as Stacie. Owen has always ignored his instincts about women, but this time he’s listening to his inner radar. He’s ready to leave the past behind and forge a new life…with Stacie. Even though he doesn’t like to keep secrets, he’s scared his past will make Stacie run. Even if she can look beyond his past, her secrets cause him to question his own heart. Then he realizes she’s suffering from post-traumatic stress and a traumatic brain injury that may as well be a ticking bomb. With their future in jeopardy, they find love is the best way to leave the past behind.

Big dreamer and certifiable overachiever Susan Ann Wall embraces life at full speed and volume. She’s a beer and tea snob, can be bribed with dark chocolate, and the #1 thing on her bucket list is to be the center of a Bon Jovi flash mob.

Susan is a multi-genre author of racy, rule-breaking romance, women’s fiction, and erotic fiction (her erotic titles are published as Ann Victor). Her bragging rights include nine books in three different series, three perfect children, adopting two amazing rescue dogs, and a happily ever after that started while serving in the U.S. Army and has spanned two decades (which is crazy since she’s not a day over 29).

In her next life, Susan plans to be a 5 foot 10, size 8 rock star married to a chiropractor and will not be terrified of large bridges, spiders, or quiet people (shiver).
Susan Ann Wall previously published books as S.A. Wall.

The Sound of Consequence is book one in the Puget Sound- Alive with Love series by Susan Ann Wall. It is set in Seattle. The characters are realistic and the plot is interesting.
Stacie Nightingale had packed up her things and moved to Seattle from Maine. She left a note for her controlling fiancé and his ring breaking up with him. She left her controlling parents as well. She did tell her brother where she was going. She was staying with her friend Jennie in a condo owned by Jennie’s aunt and uncle. Stacie intended to write and illustrate children’s books and to revive her own painting. Jennie had told her she would help her find a publisher. In fact, Jennie worked in marketing for a publishing house. All Stacie had to do was write and try to forget the pain of the accident and the death of her beautiful best friend. Although Stacie survived the accident, she was left with amnesia about the accident and headaches that seemed to be getting worse and more frequent. She also began acting in ways that were foreign to her nature. Including having a one night stand with Owen!
Stacie had gone to a club and ended up leaving with Owen and having a one-night stand with him. She didn’t even know his name at that point nor he hers. She woke up the next morning and quickly found her clothes and left only to find she was right across the hall from Jennie’s apartment. What had she done and could she keep from running into Owen in the hallway?
Would she ever see Owen again? What did her headaches mean? Would she remember her past?

Stacie has ran away from her fiancé, the nightmares of her friends death, in general she has ran away from her whole life, and escaped to Seattle to her best friend Jenny. When she has an episode and spills coffee all over the hot guy that she somehow sensed before she saw, she escapes before he notices there's something wrong with her. When she runs into him again, she can't believe she ends up spending the night with him. Owen can't believe that after swearing off women that this women has somehow managed to reach out and touch him, but when he wakes she's gone, no way to contact her, not even a name to call her. When Owen by chance meets Stacie again, she sets rules to not get close, but his attraction to her lets him agree despite his better judgement. Both are keeping secrets from each other, and as their attractions to each other grow, they find it harder to reveal their pasts, until one day it all comes crashing around them, and Stacie's life is left hanging in the balance.
Once again Susan has done a fantastic job of making you feel connected to the characters and the story was fabulously written. I can't wait to read Jenny's story in the next book 'The Sound of Betrayl'. If you enjoyed Susan's other books, you will enjoy this.

This was an entertaining read for the most part. The only thing I wish there was greater clarity about would be the truth behind what happened the day of Stacie's accident but it's not really relevant. Owen sounded like a nice guy and I was glad on his behalf that it worked out in his favor. I didn't have significant feelings about Stacie one way or another but anything negative that would've entered my mind would have been erased and explained by her brain injury. Greg was a bit too creepy and the whole relationship seemed weird, even with the explanation. Jenny and Morgan intrigued me a bit so I might give their books a go.
