The time has come for Emily to make good on her promise of vengeance—a promise made not only to herself, but to the angels of Lucifan. After chasing Heliena the world over, Emily finally has her cornered, but with nowhere left to run, Heliena won’t be so easy to defeat.
In Juatwa, a place of never-ending war waged on a massive scale, Emily must fight her way through deadly creatures, ninja assassins, and not one, but three armies, all for the slim chance at defeating her nemesis, once and for all.
But Emily has an ally on her side whose skills rival her own. With his help, a bit of determination, and perhaps some luck, they might just win the day.
I'll read just about anything these days as I enjoy branching out and trying new things, though my favorites still ride along the same old tracks I followed as a kid: fantasy and science fiction. I love strong characters, deep world building, and colorful prose. What I seek as a reader is the same as what I hope to accomplish as an author: transport the reader to another world where they become so absorbed they lose track of everything around them.
I have been waiting for each of these books the moment I read the first three (after discovering them from a Reddit AMA the author did). With each book, they get better and better, and Juatwa is by far the best yet. The pacing is excellent. The characters feel real and their dialog is natural and believable. The action scenes are visceral. The author doesn't take the easy way out, and surprises with unconventional twists and turns. The last third of the book is an exciting and tense ride that ranks with the works of some of the better authors I've read, and I had to finish it without putting it down. I have to find out what happens next.
Read the beta of this after begging the author. I have been devouring his series and I couldn't wait to get my hands on this one. I surely didn't disappoint
In the interest of full disclosure: I am a friend of the author and have had access to his work pre-publication. Him being a friend my opinion is probably slightly biased but it is still one of the better books I have read, this holds true for all of his books. His writing is also improving with each book. Well worth the read.
