Hidden Falls – An Exciting New 13-Part Serial Novel from Shiloh Run Studios
Thirty years of small-town secrets—now the key to the mystery is gone. The small town of Hidden Falls is abuzz. Former students, friends, and loved ones are prepping for tonight's big event to honor Ted Quinn's many years of compassionate service. Quinn is reluctant about a night in the spotlight--but is tenderly prodded by Sylvia, mayor of Hidden Falls and Quinn's dearest friend and confidante.
Ethan and Nicole won't let the shadows of their pasts stop them from returning to Hidden Falls--but only for Quinn--no matter how much it hurts. Liam, a former student, and Jack, a town newcomer, are both hoping the night works toward their own gain--or, if they'll admit it, their chance for redemption. Like Quinn, Dani and Lauren are mainstays in Hidden Falls. They keep close to home--and have secrets to keep close, too.
Now it's time. The guests are seated, introductions are made, the spotlight shines on center stage...and the unthinkable leaves the entire town scrambling for the truth.
A new must-read episode releases every week starting January 24!
I’m imagining you. You walk past as I water my front flowerbeds and we wave. You check the time as we both stand in a long line at the grocery store. You sit in front of me in church. I’m at my table in the coffee shop and you’re at yours.
We may smile politely and move on with our separate lives. Or one of us may speak, a simple invitation to conversation, and the words flow between us.
Here the adventure begins. When we meet someone new, we never know where it might lead.
I’ve been married over 40 years and have two adult kids and a son-in-law. We live in stunning Colorado at the foot of the Rockies, where the day lilies in my back yard grow as tall as I am. (No short jokes, please.)
Not every piece of my life is pretty, though. Some days I want to throw out whole chunks. But I am living each day looking for the grace of God to me, in me, and through me. Having your companionship along the way will help uncover a lot of great stories.
The fifth book in this saga is called the Mayor’s Quandary, but it more like the whole towns. Does anyone know what is going on, and is there any rhyme or reason to anything? I am not sure if I know anything more about what happened to Quinn once I finished this quick read, than I did before I started, and I have no idea who or whom is responsible. Of course daily life goes on and that is just what is happening her but with the missing teacher hanging over their heads. I received this book through Net Galley and the Publisher Barbour and was not required to give a positive review.
Episode 5: The Mayor's Quandary I've about decided that I'm not the best serial-novel reader. I'm too impatient to see what happens, and all of these cliffhanger endings are driving me crazy! I read the last three episodes in one week, and I enjoyed it a bit more. Perhaps I should have waited until they were all published before beginning to read?? Too late now, though. Despite the fact that this episode didn't have a ton of "action" in it, I did enjoy reading more about Ethan and Nicole. I'm definitely curious about where Quinn is, and I'm pretty much committed to reading the rest of the series now. Which I suppose is the whole point anyway, right?! [3.5 stars]
Overall Thoughts So Far (Episodes 1-5) I'm definitely intrigued by this series. While there are a lot of characters to keep up with and the episodes jump quickly between "scenes," I'm interested to find out what happened to Quinn and am hoping for a few romances to develop too! I'm not sure the serial format is my favorite, but it hasn't deterred me from continuing to read!
At this point, I'm still a little wary of the high price tag. The publisher recently lowered the price to $1.99 per episode (with the first one still a free download), but that's still $24 for the complete book when all is said and done. A little pricey for me, but some may not object.
Kudos to Olivia Newport for a great new story. I look forward to reading the rest of it!
I received a free copy of this book from Barbour Publishing through Net Galley in exchange for my fair and honest review.
Silvia the mayor is overwhelmed with everything that is going on in Hidden Falls. Never has this town had so much excitement. It's a little disturbing that all these things are happening and can they be related to Quinn's disappearance? When everyone finds out Dani's boat was found at the bottom of the falls, people want answers. Silvia can't seem to get a hold of Dani to know if she is safe or not.
Nicole goes for a fun and breaks her ankle, this ticks her off because she wants to continue looking for Quinn. Ethan decides they can take a day of from looking and he tends to Nicole. Lauren is also helping and Silvia decides to bring over dinner and invites Cooper. Lauren pretends to be upset about her leaving him there while Silvia leaves but I think a part of her likes it!
This episode leaves us hanging a little bit with Liam getting a note that says "I know" plus some other stuff. Who ever it is wants to meet?? Next episode sounds interesting.
Over all, I feel like these episode are not really getting me anywhere. I keep hoping that something exciting is going to happen but it seems to be the same stuff over and over. Where is Quinn, the place can't seem to run without him..search, search.etc. I just don't feel like the story is moving along very fast..next episode sounds promising but I guess I will find out later.
It seems more mayhem is a foot as the Mayor has had her own shop broken into and is trying to clean up and get on with her way , but it seems that this incident is only spurring the town of Hidden Falls into more panic as first their beloved teacher and dear friend Quinn disappears and now the Mayor Sylvia's shop has been broken into , but that's not all as Dani - cousin of Cooper and Liam and a bit of a recluse has had her boat damaged and destroyed. It seems that the town's sheriffs department is no closer to finding Quinn than before and now Nicole who was hoping to put her journalistic skills to the test has ended up with a broken ankle and in a cast, holed up at Lauren's apartment. Remember how Liam has been having all that financial trouble when he discovered that he had somehow spent over $70'000 of his client's money, well somebody knows and has left him a lovely little note telling him to meet him at Birch Bend. Who knows Liam's secret and has it got anything to do with Quinn and his disappearance ? Find out in Episode #5 of Olivia Newport's serial "Hidden Falls".
I wish the cliffhanger resolutions were longer. I am still addicted to Hidden Falls. Do think the storylines are rushed. Their is so much going on in all the episodes.
I like the characters so far. I like that the town is worried about Quinn and Dani and want to help. I hope that what ever Quinn is up to is on the positive side. If he changes their will be a lot of unhappy people in the town of Hidden Falls and a bunch of readers. Their are new dramas, mysteries popping up. The whole town of Hidden Falls is starting to worry and are being stressed.
I like reading Olivia Newport books. But I do wish these episodes were longer. I feel like they are a 30 minute tv show when I want the hour long dramas compared. It is a clean read. Another cliffhanger ending that wants to make you come back and read what is going on.
I was given this ebook to read by Netgalley and in exchange asked to give honest review.
This episode covers the events on Tuesday. Dani is drying out and warming up and may just have a blurry photo of the person who put a hole in her boat. Nicole breaks her ankle and the pressure on Mayor Sylvia is heating up. See my full review at http://bit.ly/1kexaFJ. I received a complimentary egalley of this episode from the publisher for the purpose of this review.
I love this series and can not wait for each part to come out, keeps you guessing which way the storyline will take you. Every character has their secrets and little quirks, the reader can only love each one.looking forward to the next part.
