Forgiveness is the pulse that sustains all friendships. The most anticipated sequel of the year...Where Did We Go Wrong? left readers asking, Who got shot? Where Did We Go Wrong Again? continues immediately after the shooting. One of the beloved central characters is critically wounded and another is murdered. The bonds of friendship and love are tested after the tragedy causes all involved to make irrational decisions that complicate their lives even more. Nothing will ever be the same as everyone is forced to make monumental, life-altering decisions. Can relationships be salvaged in time to help one another through the consequences of poor judgment?
At age ten, she was introduced to the world of romantic fiction by an older cousin who worked at a local library, and it was "love at first read." She simply couldn't get enough. Reading for fun opened her mind to new experiences.
As a teenager, she decided to become a writer on a hot, summer day while reading in her bedroom. Having just finished a chapter where the author described a ski resort so vividly, she got up from her bed and looked out her bedroom window expecting to see snow-tipped mountains and feel frigid temperatures. She wanted that power-the ability to make people feel and experience life through her words and stories.
Instead of just reading novels, she studied them, determined to create entertaining stories like the published authors whose work she enjoyed. Her favorite authors include Jackie Collins, Terry McMillan, Mary Higgins Clark and Carl Weber. She enjoys reading all genres, but her favorite is contemporary and romantic fiction with strong, independent women as lead characters.
Her novels describe the drama in relationships among families, lovers, friends, and colleagues. She likes to take her readers on a roller-coaster ride of emotions that will make them laugh, cry, gasp, think, and question people and their actions.
Her first novel, Where Did We Go Wrong? is scheduled to hit bookstores in April 2012. In the meantime, she is busy at work on future novels. There is nothing more exciting to her than creating a fictional world with flawed characters who consume her thoughts and tell her how they want the story to play out.
Monica is a native of Washington, D.C., and a graduate of Nyack College with a degree in Organizational Management. When she's not pounding the keyboard crafting her next novel, she works as an investigator in the metropolitan Washington area. She currently lives in Prince George's County, Maryland, with her brave, sexy firefighter husband and their loving, handsome son.
In her free time, she travels as much as she can, but when she's home, she's surrounded by her family and friends. She is a member of Romance Writers of America (RWA) and several writers' networks and groups.
This book was just as good as the 1st. These 3 sisters had some shit with them but in the end nobody can't beat the bond between friends & family. That's a given.
This sequel was certainly not a disappointment to the first book. I enjoyed the turbulent unpredictable friendship of Maxine, Joy and Gabby as well as the hilarious character of Bea. I felt I knew all these characters personally. Great job, Monica Mathis-Stowe. Will be looking out for future reads.
Where Did We Go Wrong Again? is a fun read that will once again have you experiencing a range of emotions. Throughout the story you will pity Maxine, fell sorry for Joy and hate Gabby, but in the end, you will definitely love something about all the characters.
Let me tell you! This book took me on a ride! What I loved was the emotions the author was able to invoke. I ended up liking almost everyone I disliked from book 1 & disliking everyone & I liked. I almost didn't want Joy to have Allen bc he put up with way too much from her & Bea. And my fav storyline was Gabby & Bo. The depth & mindset of their characters truly provided for a powerful story. I have laughed, been upset, cried & overjoyed throughout this entire book. Two thumbs up!
I loved the friendship that Maxine, Gabby and Joy shared with each other, through all their ups and downs they had each other's back. After Allen began to recover from his gun shot wound caused by Dean, his and Joy's relationship takes another turn for the worse. Maxine tries to reconcile with her husband, but finds out the hard way some things are better left alone. Gabby is still Gabby but for once gets a taste of her own medicine, and she doesn't like it one bit. I enjoyed this series and look forward to more from this author
I absolutely loved 1&2 of this book. The story line was well developed along with each character. I love how I could spend time getting to know these ladies! I felt as though they were my friends. Well worth the read!! ♥️
Monica Mathis-Stowe does it again with her sequel to “Where Did We Go Wrong?.” I hurriedly read WDWGW just so I could get into “Where Did We Go Wrong Again?.” I’d heard about Monica’s methodical writing style of plotting to keep her reader engaged. Her plan worked.
The pulse of the story is loyalty and forgiveness. When friends are caught in a quagmire after discovering one friend shoot and another murdered, everyone involved literally has some serious life changing decisions to make. These characters must decide what is of greater value, friendship or sanity.
Monica does an excellent job of picking up right where she left off in “Where Did We Go Wrong?.” You start reading “Where Did We Go Wrong Again?” knowing the main storyline. That is, three college friends living fast and hard gets themselves in a big mess of “murder was the case that they gave me” trouble. You know right away that you still hate Gabby, feel sorry for Joy, and blame Maxine. Just as in “Where Did We Go Wrong?,” a murder hangs in the balance and continues to complicate the bond between these young women.
This story gets messy. You find yourself playing detective, and trying to solve a case because you don’t want your favorite character to be guilty. You even become frustrated once you realize there are more twist and turns than the Los Angeles freeway. Because the book is so intriguing, you keep reading and hoping for the outcome you want. I don’t want to give away any spoiler alerts, but I will say that both books are probably the best I’ve read this year.
“Where Did We Go Wrong?” and “Where Did We Go Wrong Again?” are hard to put down. It took me about six days to read both books, and both are definitely worth the read. Believe me you won’t be disappointed. The sequel is thrilling and even that does not sum it up. I highly recommend both books!
The author did a good job of eliciting negative emotions toward the female characters and empathy for the male characters. The book is a shining example of the type of woman you should not ever want to be.
Maxine- the weaker & neediest of the 3 friends grew a back bone after being set afire, but remained worrisome. This character is shining example of women who don't know how to exist without a man. She wore her desperation like a coat.
Joy-the most immature with a dose of selfishness of the 3 friends She was just doing too much. Even after all that Allen went thru for her over the course of 10 yrs and after he returned. Joy was angry over a kiss and some nude emails & photos from someone trying to get her man. I mean really. It was ridiculous and I lost interest in her. She was even more immature than in book 1. I felt sorry for Allen. He put up with so much dealing with her and got nothing back in return. I really, hoped he would move on from her. He didn't cheat on her. And his character deserved a happily ever after. Bee was too much all around.
Gabby-the most selfish, narcissistic and devious of the 3 friends Finally we got some background on how Gabby became the way she is....Hate it or love it.
In this 2nd installment of the series, we see that so much can go wrong..again. Joy, Gabby and Maxine see that not much has changed though the scenarios are different. The drama comes twofold for Joy as she realizes its harder to move on when everything is anchoring her to her past. Maxine is in the same boat as Joy as she tries to move forward but her past is about to give her a reality check. Gabby being Gabby, is up to her old tricks but when the tables get turned can she change her ways? Throw in unstable and crazy lovers and the drama just went through the roof.
Rating 5
I really enjoyed this read. The drama was doubled in comparison to book one. I enjoyed catching up on the various characters and the drama in each of their lives. The plot was well written and flowed even though so much was going on with each of the main characters. I loved how the book was concluded and all my questions were answered.
I have cried, laughed, got made, prayed and cried some more in this book. A book of strong friendship, unconditional love amoung friends, trust and respect even in the middle of wanted to beat their behind for something you didn't agree with. Strong ties that noting and no one was given permission to bring between these ladies. They could dog each other but they weren't going to let an outsider break them up. You start this book and you really can't put it down. I want to give a shot out to my friends in both New Jersey and Georgia that they had to show me that this was the connection. I had said that I gave up on trust and unconditional and they should me that once I trusted myself again God would show me there love and loyalty to me as a friend. It feels so good to be in this place, we argue, fuss and disagree but it doesn't touch our love for one another. This author hit the nail on the head with these two books. They are must reads. ENJOY
4.0 out of 5 stars Drama is Amplified to Full Throttle !!,
By DJ Gatsby Book Club "CG" (New York City, New York) - This review is from: Where Did We Go Wrong Again? (Kindle Edition)
This sequel wasted no time at all picking up the pace and drama where it left off in book one. Gabby still was up to her scheming and conniving self, Joy continue to put everyone else's needs before her man's 'Allen), and Maxine tried giving Trent, her husband a second & forgave him for nearly killing her before.
It took an enormous amount of drama before maturity, growth materialized for Gabby and Joy. It happened a lot sooner for Maxine whom was the weakest of the three since the beginning of their sisterhood. If you're looking for a hum drum read this is not the book for the weak or fainthearted. The Drama is Amplified to Full Throttle!
A perfect sequel. If you haven't read Where Did We Go Wrong?, definitely check it out. Then you'll want this one right away. Where Did We Go Wrong Again? picks up right where the first ends. This book continues the story of three best friends, with more of their complicated love lives and lots of drama. Who is doing to do what next? I couldn't stop reading to find out. I also loved how each woman had a "Where did I go wrong again?" moment. This book is heartbreaking, shocking, and funny. If you love drama, steam, and strong women, you'll want to read this.
More Drama; More Evil: More Interesting; More Sexier than the first. Bo and Gabby was hot together and probably met in another Book life. Would love to see their personalities get together and start some stuff. They tame each other.
Yes yes yes a must-read for all. This book really shows what true friendship really is. A very good read. There was never a dull moment...Monica excellent storytelling..
Usually sequels aren't better than the original but this was different. I like how it picked right up where the other one left off & had even more twists and turns. Highly recommend the set!
Enjoyed reading part 2 to see who survived the "stalker", only to end up reading about a second stalker of the same couple. It was a good read, but I enjoyed part 1 much more.
Wow! I felt like I was on a roller coaster. I really enjoyed it. I'm looking forward to reading more books from this author. Still don't like Gabby!!! lol!!
