How to Reach / Teach the Retarded
Jesus Christ sent out His followers to make disciples of all mankind ... but does that include the mentally retarded? Many - even Christians - consider the retarded to be unreachable.
In contrast, the authors of Teach Me, Please Teach Me bring us fresh assurance. They write, "Many retardates can understand Scriptural truths. Christ promised them not only eternal life, but abundant life as well. So these who will forever remain as little children can and should receive the love, the joy, the peace, and the hope that only Our Lord provides. Yes, the mentally retarded need our Jesus now."
Dorothy Clark, Jane Dahl, and Lois Gonzenbach are well fitted for the task they have undertaken. All are committed Christians, and among them are represented many years of study and practice in teaching the mentally retarded, both in churches and in public schools. Each has a loving concern for the souls of the retarded.
