an old fashioned adventure from another era

I cannot find the actual year Brand wrote this. All they ever give out is a publishing date of 1998. But Brand (a pen name) was killed in 1944 in war torn Italy and this book’s way of writing predates both 1998 and 1944. It might be the 1920s.

His style and his language are akin to Dumas and The Three Musketeers (for it is a swashbuckling tale) and also Cervantes for the storyline is Quixotic. And Hispanic. Half the time I felt I was reading one of Zorro’s adventures.

Blazing guns, fast horses, a treasure in the mountains of Mexico no one can find, assassins who come by night - once this story gets going (you will need to be patient at the very beginning before it begins to make sense) you will have a hard time stopping.

An old fashioned adventure like The Count of Monte Cristo written in an old fashioned way. It was a lot of fun for me.

The City in the Sky

A marvelous story. It was a joy to read and a marvel at the complexity of characters involved in this wild adventure and mystery. I loved reading it and will read it again. What a remarkable story.
