Let s face it we all need money in order to live. How we earn it is up to us. Whether you want to work for someone else or start your own business, this book will help you learn how to land that first job, figure out your paycheck, and negotiate a raise."
“All About The Green” by Kara McGuire is a wonderful book on personal finance specially designed for teens and young adults that are new to the world of money management. The book discusses major areas like earning, saving, budgeting, and investing in scenarios that everyone can relate to which makes the principles of finances less intimidating and much easier to grasp. I appreciate the idea that the author broke down tough areas like credit scores, banking options, and basic investing with simple scenarios and hands on activities at the end of each chapter. The “Money Matters” sidebars with real life money scenarios become helpful devices, hooking the reader into thoughtful consideration of their financial decisions.
Another feature of the book deserving commendation is that it’s written in conversational mode without seeming to be condescending to the target audience. Kara McGuire uses humor and basic expository language such that the content becomes engrossing and memorable. The chapters allotted to “Spending Smart” and “Avoiding Debt” hold much practical advice with anecdotes of teens having made the correct and incorrect money decisions with valuable moral lessons. Even though the book discusses the fundamentals with little emphasis on advanced financial plans, it becomes an excellent starting tool for anyone in desperate need of financial knowledge.
