An ex-Army detective with PTSD. A beautiful psychologist with an unspeakable past. Can they defeat their demons and free a runaway girl from the hands of a psychopath?
When small-town detective Eli Colt receives a frantic call from his estranged sister-in-law, he can’t ignore her plea for help. His teenage niece, Tara, has vanished, lured into the treacherous world of trafficking by a cunning New Orleans pimp.
Determined to save Tara from an unbearable fate, Eli reluctantly seeks the assistance of an unexpected source—Lindsey Crenshaw, a clinical psychologist whose own past suffered the terrors of child prostitution.
Where danger lurks and the past refuses to remain buried, Eli and Lindsey must rely on each other to bring Tara home. Their journey through the seedy underbelly of the French Quarter and a remote fishing channel tests their tenacity, often pushing them beyond their emotional and physical resolve.
As Eli and Lindsey get closer to save Tara, Tara’s life is about to meet a perilous end. Can Eli and Lindsey defeat a crazed cult-leader that seeks to claim Tara as his own? If you like Robert Galbraith’s Cormoran Strike, Michael Connelly’s Harry Bosch, or Stephen James’ Patrick Bowers Files, you’ll soar through the pages of Will Marler’s first installment of the Eli Colt series.
Purchase the Worst Kind of Evil today and discover a gripping new Christian suspense series.
This book doesn’t read like a debut novel. The fast action page-turner is well written. The arc of the main character is strong. Marler wrote engaging primary and secondary characters that sail the story to soaring heights.
In today’s world, a story about a teen runaway all too often ends in tragedy. To find Tara, Eli has to go into the lair of evil. Beware, this story has a dark side but to understand the dangers and heinous world, hopefully you never encounter, Marler takes you deep into the filth of wicked corruption, making this read like a true crime novel.
The descriptions of settings are vivid and accurate and the characters are gritty and true to real life. I could almost taste, smell, and see the places and characters as Marler wove the story.
The romantic aspect is refreshing and the Spiritual encounters will lift the reader’s soul and psyche. I received this book pre-published. This review is my truthful personal opinion. I give Worst Kind of Evil 5 strong stars. I look forward to and will read the next book in the series.
Although this is Marler's Debut Novel, he is no novice author. This fast-moving, heart-stopping thriller presents characters we care about in some of the realistic crime scenes gripping our nation today. Marler is a gifted and hard-working professional who has written a book we'll think about long after reading the last page. I'm glad that his protagonist and some key characters will return in more thrillers. DO NOT start reading this or Marler's future books near bedtime or you'll get no sleep that night. I'm pleased to highly recommend The Worst Kind of Evil.
The writing puts you in the settings - from small town Mississippi to downtown New Orleans. I found the characters relatable, even the bad guys. Well, except for one. The big bad guy is just plain creepy. The subject matter, human trafficking, is relevant for our time. And the Christian elements of the book are natural parts of the story. They're not preaching points grafted onto a novel.
Action packed, sometimes shocking, always well written, Will Marler’s The Worst Kind of Evil addresses the horrors of child trafficking head on. If you liked the Sound of Freedom movie, you’ll love this book. I can’t recommend it highly enough.
This book is full of suspense!! It keeps you reading and on your toes. The love that Eli has for Tara is only topped by the Love God shows him in answering his prayers to find his niece.
I don’t know how many books the author has written but this is my first. It’s a really good story and some parts are easy to figure out pretty early. The story leaves one major loose end, so I will have Togo to book two and meet an answer.
This book was riveting. A Christian book that keep me enthralled. The presence of God in the face of pure evil kept me from putting this book down until the end.
Can't remember the last time I've been so consumed by a book. The gripping plot, complex characters, and great writing make this debut novel a thrilling ride. Several times I thought it was impossible for the characters to get out of whatever predicament they were in.
The Worst Kind of Evil is Christian suspense at its finest. Can't wait to get my hands on book 2!
