Personality disorders are conditions in which a person struggles to deal with other people and acts in a manner that is inflexible and not well-suited to coping with the demands and changes of life. They typically begin during adolescence or early adulthood, remain stable over time and create distress or impairment in a person's life.
This book deals with all the major types of personality disorders—paranoid, schizoid, schizotypal, antisocial, borderline, histrionic, narcissistic, avoidant, dependent and obsessivecompulsive— with special focus on their causes, signs and symptoms, diagnosis methods and treatment options. It also presents a detailed account of agoraphobia, anxiety disorders, panic disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, separation anxiety and suicide basics as well as its prevention.
