How to Think and Design in the Third Dimension

Rate this book
We live in a 3-D world, but most 3-D objects are designed from a series of 2-D side elevations and 2-D plan views. This book teaches readers how to think and design in the third dimension, by working only in the third dimension. This is achieved through a series of 3-D construction projects which demonstrate how to join together simple folded paper units to create beautiful 3-D structures, according to the principles of 3-D symmetry. With this new understanding, students and professionals who create in three dimensions, including designers of all specialities, sculptors, architects, engineers and craftspeople will be able to design with a new, practical and infinitely creative language of form.In addition to specially commissioned photographs and step-by-step illustrations, the book will be accompanied by 30 videos of 20 seconds duration (accessible by QR codes printed in the book or hyperlinks in the e-book), showing some of the 3-D construction projects rotating through 360 degrees.
