Chasing Comets: A Little Story About a Powerful Way to Live

Rate this book
A powerful little story that shows the way to a better life. If you're struggling, this book will make you smile, and might just help you turn things around.

Chasing Comets tells the story of young pipe dreamer named Ted who yearns for a better life. He hates his day job, his apartment, and the amount of money he makes, or lack of it. Ted is under the impression that his life isn't what it should be, and that if he could just get that one idea to take off, everything would become amazing. One day, he decides to talk to one of the older guys on his office floor, Jim, hoping to get connected with a mysterious business mogul known only as The CEO.

Jim is more than happy to introduce Ted to the man he comes to know as Devin. Over the course of the following week, Devin teaches Ted five principles that will lead him to a more fulfilling, happy life.

Ted discovers that changing his focus from the things he doesn't have, to appreciating the things in his life and focusing on others, that incredible stuff begins to happen.

Layered with humor, wisdom, and down-to-earth ideas, Chasing Comets is a heartwarming and inspiring story that gives hope to anyone who is searching for a more meaningful, happy existence.

Motivational & Inspirational

I wasn't expecting to find this little piece of fiction from Ernest Dempsey, but I'm glad I did (via an email in case it matters). I wouldn't call this story a parable, so much as it is a fictional story depicting five principles for living. The story itself was short, sweet, and to the point, which is just about perfect for this type of thing. I found myself feeling both motivated and inspired by the end because I can relate to the main character, Ted. I also wonder how much of Ernest Dempsey is in the main character and whether or not these five principles led to him becoming the successful indie author that he is. However you may feel about the message of the story, you probably can't go wrong by applying them to your own life. I have to think that this is what makes Ernest Dempsey such an interesting guy to listen to whenever I catch him on a podcast or his own YouTube channel, because the man just has an atmosphere around him that I appreciate.

Thought provoking inspiration!

Have you ever read a book and from the start it reminded you of the very first book of the genre you ever read? Chasing Comets did that for me. I’ve been a consumer of “self-help” books for several years, but the very first one that I read that was presented as a parable was the One Minute Manager.

Mr. Dempsey uses the parable format to present his five principles for making your world a better place. Ted, the main character in this story, was so familiar, it felt like Ernest wrote the story about my search to find a better life. Once Ted was introduced to the idea that the CEO could help him, I was immediately transported back to reading The One Minute Manager – not the same principles offered here, but it offered such a familiar environment that I couldn’t put the book down until I was finished. Of course, with a book like this can you really be finished? These five principles, while seemingly simple, do require effort to incorporate into one’s daily life.

New Principals for Living

I read an interview that Ernest Dempsey had done in which he mentioned this book. When I went to check on it I was surprised to find I had already purchased it. This became my next book to read and I read it straight through. It’s that good.

“Chasing Comets” is about a man who is not happy with his life. Ted feels that if he had a little more - more money, a nicer car, a better job, then his life would be much better than it currently is. When a coworker suggests he call Devin, a successful CEO, Ted proceeds to do just that.

Devin will explain how to be successful and have “more” but Ted has to work every day to use the lessons. From there we learn about these lessons that Ted is taught, but do they make a difference in his life. And are they something that can change our lives as well. I think so.

I loved this book and if it is any evidence of the novels he writes, I will be reading more of his works.

Inspiring and empowering

I loved this book.

I’ve read books like this before: Part fiction, but all truth. And I love finding them, like treasures hidden in plain sight, and sharing them with others whom I know will value their wisdom.

CHASING COMETS is an inspiring read that opens your eyes to a world just inches from what we think of as reality. It in fact introduces you to true reality, empowering you to shape your life in new and provocative and frankly astounding ways. Dempsey’s wise and venerable sage, Devin (the “CEO”), shares the secrets of success and joy and boundless potential, and you can’t help but leave these pages inspired and profoundly motivated.

I recommend this book to anyone on a journey of self discovery and personal growth and empowerment. It’s fiction that reveals truth—the most powerful kind, and the type dearest to my heart.

Lovely read.

Short, simple, substantial.

In the modern world, simple is as powerful as the next convoluted read. Finished this in 2 days!
