Adam Smith's Wealth of Nations: a 21st Century Translation and Commentary

Rate this book
For the sake of brevity, all commentaries on Adam Smith's book known as the Wealth of Nations have either sacrificed some of his ideas or replaced his ideas with some of the writer’s own.

This is a complete rewrite of Adam Smith's original Wealth of Nations, with a 77% reduction in words, modern examples and full retention of Smith's original ideas. It includes three bonus appendices: On Colonies, Smith's Historical View of Prices and The Myth of the Invisible Hand.

Unlike in other commentaries, none of Kolber's own ideas appear in the rewritten material; they are restricted to the Endnotes.

Said Prof. Emeritus Gavin Kennedy, Smith scholar and former Fellow of the Adam Smith Institute, "(I)… generally find it of excellent standard…The notes are also informative.”

Content wise this was exceptional; literary wise this was poorly written that could have used editing beyond that of the translator (although the commentary was an interesting modern take on the content of Adam Smith's original book)
