I read this book when I was in 5th grade. I loved it and have not forgotten how good it was. I remember it being a very inspirational story. I will have to read it again all these decades later and see if it was as inspirational as I first thought.

I read this as a fiction story about deafness for my ASL class. There really was not much accuracy to how this book played out.

Written in the seventies this book is already dated. It's verging on historical fiction because of the language and views on deafness and handicaps.
